Shooting, editing and publishing for brands in Rouen

Rouen is best filmed at pedestrian level: half-timbered houses on rue du Gros-Horloge, a cathedral façade painted by Monet, quays where river cruise boats dock. The city has 117,662 inhabitants according to Insee's 2023 reference populations, and Rouen Tourisme measured 4.4 million tourists there in 2023. Two audiences therefore cross paths in the same streets, and a brand can speak to them with the same images. Esekai, a Paris studio founded by Tony Lo, makes the journey to Normandy to produce creative ads, UGC and TikTok content here.

117,662 Rouennais, 4.4 million visitors

Insee records 117,662 inhabitants in Rouen (2023 reference populations), against 110,145 in 2017: the city has regained residents in six years. Around it, the Métropole claims nearly 225,000 jobs and 36,000 companies. On top of this local base comes a massive tourist flow: 4.4 million tourists and 14 million day-trippers in 2023 within the city's perimeter, including 1.9 million foreigners, according to Rouen Tourisme's review. For a brand, the consequence is practical. The same filmed sequence can run as a geotargeted ad across the metropolitan area, and as an English-subtitled version for Americans, the leading country of origin of foreign visitors in 2023. Parisians also carry weight: 18% of French tourists came from Île-de-France that year, an audience reached with weekend formats published on Thursdays.

Automotive, pharmaceuticals and the port on the Seine axis

The Métropole's industrial sector brought together 17,000 employees in 720 establishments in 2018, or 11.8% of local jobs according to Insee as cited by the authority. Automotive, food industries, pharmaceuticals and metallurgy account for most of it, and chemicals and logistics are among the sectors the Métropole highlights. Rouen Normandy Invest, for its part, lists centres of excellence such as Rouen Innovation Santé, focused on biotech and medtech, and a cluster devoted to engineering sciences and ecotechnologies. These companies are looking for technicians, line operators, process engineers. An employer-brand video filmed on the job, with an operator explaining their day to camera, is distributed on TikTok and Instagram to candidates aged 20 to 30. The Métropole's 2025-2030 economic transition strategy opens up another subject: a site that is decarbonising its production has a concrete story to show its B2B customers.

From the Vieux-Marché to the Aître Saint-Maclou

Rouen's gastronomy has its own weekend: the Fête du Ventre, which each October brings together more than 170 producers, artisans and chefs around place du Vieux-Marché, place de la Pucelle and rue aux Ours. The 2023 edition attracted 36,065 tourists and 80,065 day-trippers, according to Rouen Tourisme. For a restaurant, it is the moment to publish: a Reel of the pressed canard à la rouennaise, a chef demonstration, a UGC creator tasting an apple sugar while walking between the stalls. On the retail side, the flow can be read in the footfall figures: the Aître Saint-Maclou received 704,977 visitors in 2023, the église Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc 350,131. Shops and cafés along these routes benefit from itinerary-style TikToks, which hook the visitor the day before they arrive.

From the Jeanne d'Arc festivities to the Cathédrale de lumière

Rouen's calendar provides a shooting thread almost all year round. In spring, the Fêtes Jeanne d'Arc (76,100 tourists and 152,000 day-trippers in 2023, 45% of them foreign) fill the historic centre. In 2026, the Cathédrale de lumière occupies the façade from 29 May to 26 September with Floraison sauvage, a creation by the Japanese artist Mika Ninagawa: show at 11 pm every evening in July, at 10 pm in the second half of August. These times mean crowd and reaction shots have to be scheduled after dinner. The Armada, a gathering of tall ships on the quays, drew more than 1.5 million tourists and day-trippers over ten days in 2023: when it returns, the left-bank quays become the setting. Autumn brings the Fête du Ventre then the Saint-Romain fair on the esplanade Saint-Gervais, two grounds for more festive TikTok content.

Hisashii Ramen, our Rouen reference

Hisashii Ramen is a Rouen ramen restaurant with a carefully designed Japanese interior, still little known when it opened and barely visible on social media. Esekai built its organic presence on TikTok and Instagram Reels. Several videos passed 300,000 organic views, with a high volume of shares, comments and recommendations, and the restaurant recorded an increase in revenue and in-house footfall. For a project in Rouen, preparation is done remotely: brief, shot list, photos of the venue sent by the client. On the day, the train from Saint-Lazare drops us at Rouen Rive-Droite, at the top of rue Jeanne-d'Arc, and the centre can be covered on foot. A restaurant is filmed during the lunchtime service, the to-camera hooks in the afternoon, the dining-room atmosphere in the evening.

Why?

Why creative ads deliver better results

An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.

Yes, the show is watched from the square in front of the cathedral, in the open air. The 2026 season runs from 29 May to 26 September, at 11 pm every evening in July and then earlier in late summer. We film reactions and atmosphere shots with a UGC look there, for a café, hotel or shop in the neighbourhood, and check beforehand the filming procedures for public space with the city.

It is even a priority audience: Rouen Tourisme counted 1.9 million foreign tourists in the city in 2023, with the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom in the lead. We shoot UGC designed to be adapted into English or German, with subtitles and suitable creators, so that a Rouen hotel or restaurant appears before the visitor has even booked their train.

No. The Hisashii Ramen case showed it: several videos from this Rouen restaurant passed 300,000 organic views, with a direct effect on footfall. What matters is grouping the shoots into one well-prepared day and publishing at the right moment, for example before the Fête du Ventre in October or at the start of the Cathédrale de lumière season.

A creative ads agency designs video ads built for social platforms: tested hooks, native 9:16 formats and data-driven iterations. At Esekai, every creative ad is produced in-house in Paris (script, shoot, edit), then adapted for TikTok Ads and Meta Ads to lower your acquisition costs.

Creative ads are structured advertising for paid media (TikTok Ads, Meta Ads). UGC videos mirror authentic creator content to build trust and convert. Organic content builds your social presence over the long term. The three are complementary.

We work on a six-month minimum. A video content strategy performs best over time: the first six months let us test, refine and optimise for durable, compounding results.
