Shooting, editing and publishing for brands in Caen

Caen has 109,400 inhabitants in 2023 according to Insee, including 26,097 young people aged 15 to 24, almost one Caennais in four. Around it, the Caen la mer urban community has 149,700 jobs in 2023: the city puts its whole conurbation to work. For a brand, that means two audiences to film in the same place, those who live there and those who spend their days there. Esekai is a video agency that comes to shoot in Caen from Paris: Meta and TikTok creative ads, UGC, Reels and organic content, from city-centre shops to industrial firms on the outskirts.

109,400 Caennais, 149,700 jobs in Caen la mer

Insee's figures tell the story of a city that is regaining inhabitants. Caen had fallen from 119,640 inhabitants in 1975 to 105,354 in 2017; it now has 109,400 in 2023. There are 26,097 people aged 15 to 24, or 23.9% of the population, a share that has been rising since 2012. Around it, Caen la mer brings together 149,700 jobs in 2023. In practical terms, a Meta ad targeted at Caen's postcode alone misses some of those who have lunch there, do their shopping there on Saturday or attend the teaching hospital there. So we build the creatives for two audiences. That of the conurbation, reached with landmarks it recognises: the tram, rue Saint-Pierre, the car park before the market. And that of the 15-to-24s, renewed by every September intake at the Université de Caen Normandie. For them, a creator to camera with a recognisable Caen location behind them is worth more than a catalogue image.

From the CHU to Renault Trucks: filming the conurbation's industry

According to an Insee study published in 2026, the 68 business zones of Caen la mer bring together 3,660 establishments and 72,900 employees in 2023. The largest is the Santé Formation hub, in Caen, with nearly 12,000 employees around the CHU Caen Normandie teaching hospital and the Centre François Baclesse. On the industrial side, Stellantis is based in the ZI Espérance in Cormelles-le-Royal, Renault Trucks in the ZI Caen-Canal in Blainville-sur-Orne, and the Laboratoires Gilbert in the Hérouville business zone. These employers recruit operators, technicians and healthcare staff. An employer-brand video filmed on the line or in the department, with an employee describing their day, speaks better than a job ad. A useful detail for distribution: nearly one employee in two in the business zones lives outside Caen la mer, so a recruitment campaign has to aim well beyond the conurbation.

Saint-Sauveur on Friday, bassin Saint-Pierre on Sunday

On Friday mornings, the Saint-Sauveur market occupies the oldest square in the city, with its cheesemongers (camembert, pont-l'évêque, livarot, neufchâtel) and its flea-market stalls, Caen la mer Tourisme reminds us. On Sunday mornings, the largest market in the area sets up along the quay of the bassin Saint-Pierre. For a producer or a delicatessen, it is the raw material for UGC that rings true: the creator tastes, asks for advice, leaves with her bag. Restaurants have a subject that nobody else has, tripes à la mode de Caen, a recipe defended by the confrérie de la Tripière d'Or. A video in close-ups of the tripière simmering suits TikTok and Reels equally well. The Mémorial, the château and the two abbeys also attract foreign visitors who come for the history of the D-Day landings, whom a hotel or a bar in the Vaugueux can target with English-subtitled versions.

From the Vaugueux to the September Fair: the Caen calendar

The settings are a few minutes' walk from one another. The ramparts of William the Conqueror's château give a clear view over the city, the cobbled lanes of the Vaugueux and their half-timbered houses serve food and nightlife shoots, and the courtyard of the hôtel d'Escoville offers a calm Renaissance backdrop for an interview. Caen stone, pale, reflects light well, which helps for fashion and beauty. On the calendar side, the Foire internationale de Caen is held every year at the end of September at the Parc des expositions (18 to 27 September in 2026), heir to the Foire Saint-Denis created in 1921: a good time to shoot exhibitor testimonials. In 2026, the electronic festival NDK (formerly Nördik Impakt) was held from 7 to 11 October, and Les Boréales, devoted to Nordic cultures, take over the city from 12 to 22 November.

A shooting day in Caen, setting out from Saint-Lazare

The team arrives from Paris by train via the Saint-Lazare station, with light equipment (cameras, lighting, sound, no drone), and hires a car on site when the shoot takes place in a factory in Blainville or Cormelles. Before coming, we hold the briefing over video call, approve the locations from photos, cast UGC creators in the region and prepare the authorisation requests. A typical day, on a Friday: Saint-Sauveur market at opening for product shots and spontaneous reactions, lunchtime service in a restaurant in the centre, interviews in the afternoon in the Vaugueux or along the bassin Saint-Pierre, then the end of the day on the château ramparts as the light drops. You leave with several hooks per video, versions for Meta and TikTok and subtitled versions. The trip combines easily with Bayeux or Ouistreham on a second day.

Why?

Why creative ads deliver better results

An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.

Yes. A site such as the ZI Caen-Canal or the Santé Formation hub imposes its own rules: protective equipment, areas off-limits to cameras, written consent from the employees filmed, no identifiable patients. We settle the shooting plan with your QHSE or communications department before coming, so that the day on site is spent filming and not negotiating access.

It all depends on the target. September combines the student return and the Foire internationale. For a young audience or one curious about culture, autumn has two festivals: in 2026, NDK took place from 7 to 11 October and Les Boréales run from 12 to 22 November. Summer opens up the beaches of Caen la mer. In early June, the D-Day commemorations fill the city with visitors: perfect for tourism content, more complicated for booking accommodation and venues.

Yes, and that is often what makes the content credible. A creator who knows rue Écuyère or the Sunday market at the bassin Saint-Pierre talks like your customers, with the same reference points. We cast in the region, the team comes from Paris to oversee the shoot, and the advertising usage rights are defined by contract before the first take.

A creative ads agency designs video ads built for social platforms: tested hooks, native 9:16 formats and data-driven iterations. At Esekai, every creative ad is produced in-house in Paris (script, shoot, edit), then adapted for TikTok Ads and Meta Ads to lower your acquisition costs.

Creative ads are structured advertising for paid media (TikTok Ads, Meta Ads). UGC videos mirror authentic creator content to build trust and convert. Organic content builds your social presence over the long term. The three are complementary.

We work on a six-month minimum. A video content strategy performs best over time: the first six months let us test, refine and optimise for durable, compounding results.
