On Saturday mornings, place des Lices, Rennes offers in a few hours what TikTok accounts look for all week: faces, fresh produce and a queue in front of the galette-saucisse. The city has 230,890 inhabitants in 2023 according to Insee, and 480,178 across Rennes Métropole. Esekai, a Paris studio founded by Tony Lo, has produced for more than 350 brands and makes the trip to film your ads and UGC content right on the ground in Rennes, with creators and settings the local audience recognises.

The 230,890 inhabitants recorded by Insee in 2023 tell only part of the story. The commune concentrates 156,532 jobs the same year, for a metropolis of 480,178 inhabitants: a good share of the people who work, study or shop in Rennes do not sleep there. The Rennes Métropole economic site also records 73,500 students in 2021, spread between Beaulieu, Villejean and the centre. For a brand, this changes the casting and the tone. A creative ad aimed at Rennes can rely on credible 19-to-25-year-old profiles, filmed in a shared flat, on a metro platform or on a terrace on rue Saint-Michel, without it sounding fabricated. The same campaign can then target families in the outlying communes with a calmer version, shot straight afterwards with other creators and another setting.
From cyber defence to the CHU: jobs that are hard to explain
Rennes Métropole has made a name for itself in cybersecurity: according to its economic site, 96 private companies employed 3,377 people there in 2021, and the Ministry of the Armed Forces has 865 cyber combatants there since the inauguration of a Comcyber component in 2019. Orange runs its CyberSOC there, Airbus Cybersecurity and Thales are based there, alongside start-ups such as Glimps. The same source estimates 250 cyber positions a year to be filled in the area. These profiles do not read standard job ads: a SOC analyst describing her day to camera, in her own offices, reaches them more than a brochure. Healthcare weighs heavily too, with the CHU de Rennes and one job in ten in the metropolis. For a B2B company in these sectors, the same shoot provides employer brand formats and product demos cut for ads.
Galette-saucisse, Halles Martenot and 2.17 million overnight stays
The tourist office presents the marché des Lices as the second largest market in France: nearly 250 producers, craftspeople and traders set up there every Saturday from 7:30 to 13:30, and 10,000 shoppers circulate around the Halles Martenot. For a caterer, a cider maker or a crêperie, it is a setting that works on its own for a UGC shot at customer height, with the sizzle of the griddle and the exchange at the counter. The apéro-marché that follows on a terrace provides material for a restaurant Reel with no staging. On the visitor side, the Rennes Métropole tourism observatory counts 2.17 million commercial overnight stays in 2024 and 34% foreign clientele. A hotel or a bar on place Sainte-Anne can therefore shoot a TikTok series subtitled in English, designed for the weekend tourist planning their stay on their phone.
From the Thabor to the Trans Musicales: Rennes' calendar
The old town lines up its half-timbered houses around place du Champ-Jacquet, a few streets from the Parlement de Bretagne and the Thabor garden. In early July, the Tombées de la Nuit take over public space: in 2026, from 30 June to 5 July, the festival had set up its headquarters in the Saint-Melaine cloister, in the Thabor. This is when a fashion or drinks brand can capture the city outdoors, late in the evening, with people in frame. In early December, the Trans Musicales bring together an audience there for emerging music, consistent with a campaign aimed at a young, curious audience. The Couvent des Jacobins, a convention centre that hosted 130 events in 2024, lets you film a convention or B2B trade fair right in the centre. In November, the days shorten quickly: we then schedule exteriors for early afternoon.
From Rennes station to the set without losing the morning
Rennes has been linked to Paris by high-speed rail since 2017, and the metro serves the station, the centre and the campuses: we arrive in the morning with equipment in our luggage, with no vehicle to park in the hypercentre. A video agency in Rennes that comes from Paris cannot improvise. Everything is prepared before departure, by video call, with the brief, hook scripts, the choice of Rennes or Paris UGC creators, location scouting from photos and permit requests if filming on public land or in a market. On site, a well-planned day covers two settings, for example your shop or offices in the morning, then a street sequence in the afternoon, place Sainte-Anne or along the Vilaine. In the evening, we leave with several filmed concepts and their hook variants, ready to be tested in a campaign. If your product sells at the Lices, we start at the opening of the market, before the midday crowd.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
