Shooting, editing and publishing for brands in Strasbourg

In Strasbourg, tram line D crosses the Rhine to Kehl: so a shop in the centre sells to Alsatians, to Unistra students, to European civil servants and to German customers who have come over for the afternoon. The municipality has 293,771 inhabitants in 2023 according to Insee, the Eurométropole 522,596. Esekai, a studio founded by Tony Lo that has worked with more than 350 brands, travels from Paris to Alsace to film at your premises. Video agency, UGC agency, TikTok agency: here, our first job is to choose who we are talking to, and in which language.

A city gaining residents

Insee's series show a growing municipality: 293,771 inhabitants in 2023, against 280,966 in 2017 and 249,396 in 1968. At Eurométropole level, the population grew by 0.9% a year on average between 2017 and 2023, to reach 522,596 inhabitants in 247,012 households, and the area offered 272,828 jobs in 2023. For a brand, these figures sketch a market that keeps renewing itself: newcomers looking for their bakery, their gym or their hairdresser, students who change every year, international professionals in the European district. The first group responds well to UGC shot on a phone by a creator who looks like them. The second prefers a short, subtitled Meta creative ad with a more measured tone. And Kehl, a few tram stops away, opens up a German clientele that can be targeted with the same settings and a second script.

From the Rhine port to the Illkirch innovation park

The ports of Strasbourg form France's second-largest river port. The page that the City and the Eurométropole devote to them announces 500 companies, 10,000 direct jobs, 23,000 indirect jobs and 1,050 hectares, making it the largest logistics zone in Alsace, equipped with three multimodal container terminals. These companies are looking for forklift operators, drivers, maintenance technicians: thirty seconds of testimony at the foot of a gantry, broadcast in the evening on the networks where these profiles spend their time, says more than a listing on a job site. To the south, the Illkirch-Graffenstaden innovation park brings together laboratories, biotech companies and a university campus. For a medtech, we film a product demonstration on the lab bench or a researcher explaining their subject without jargon, first for LinkedIn, then as Reels. Around the European Parliament and the Council of Europe also gravitate NGOs and trade federations that need short videos in English.

Winstubs, tarte flambée and weekend visitors

The tourist office's 2024 activity report records 3,865,838 overnight stays in the Eurométropole in 2024, 62,000 more than in 2023, an increase it attributes to midweek stays during the Christmas market, to the summer and to conventions. Many of these visitors choose their table on Instagram or TikTok before they even arrive. A winstub near the cathedral has everything to gain from showing the tarte flambée coming out of the oven, the choucroute plated in the dining room, the owner talking about the wood panelling: three fifteen-second Reels, filmed during a real service. On the shopping side, between place Kléber, rue des Grandes Arcades and the Rivetoile centre, retailers benefit from having UGC creators test their products in the street itself, with the tram in the background placing the city at a glance. Hotels in Petite France, meanwhile, prepare the room, breakfast and rooftop view ahead of the season.

Romantic February, saturated December

The 11th edition of the Strasbourg mon amour festival, from 9 to 18 February 2024, offered more than 90 events according to the tourist office: enough to anchor a Valentine's Day campaign shot on the Ponts Couverts or from the terrace of the Vauban dam. In September, the European Fantastic Film Festival draws an audience fond of offbeat content. Then comes the Christmas market, whose 2024 edition a footfall study cited by the office puts at 3.4 million visitors, up 3.3% year on year. During these weeks, the Grande Île is saturated and access is controlled, which complicates any clean shot. So we film the Christmas visuals in the very first days, early in the morning. The rest of the year, the Neustadt and its Wilhelmine façades, around place de la République, offer a calmer setting, and the Krutenau speaks to students.

Brief by video call, tram from the train

Everything is prepared remotely. After a first video call, you send us photos of the venue, we write the scripts and cast the UGC creators in advance, including German speakers when the campaign also targets Baden-Württemberg. On shoot day, the train from Gare de l'Est drops us at the central station and the tram takes us to your door, with light equipment, which matters on a largely pedestrian Grande Île. If filming occupies public space, we handle the paperwork with the City. For a restaurant in Petite France, the typical schedule starts with morning light on the canals before the groups arrive, continues with kitchen set-up, follows the lunch service live and keeps the afternoon for team interviews. In the edit, each ad comes out with several hooks, ready to be tested on TikTok and Meta.

Why?

Why creative ads deliver better results

An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.

Yes, if you know the constraints. With 3.4 million visitors counted for the 2024 edition, the Grande Île is packed in the afternoon and its access points are filtered. We keep the first hours of the morning and the quieter streets for atmosphere shots, then film the product scenes indoors, at your premises, where sound and light stay under control.

Not always, but it is often justified for a shop, restaurant or hotel in the centre that receives customers from Kehl and Baden-Württemberg. The simplest approach is to plan for it in the brief: a second, German-speaking creator, the same settings, scripts rewritten rather than translated word for word. Everything is filmed in the same session.

It all depends on the target. For students, the Krutenau and the Esplanade give a credible setting, far from the postcards. For an audience of visitors, Petite France and the quays of the Ill are recognised in a second. A premium or B2B brand will find in the Neustadt and the European district, near the Orangerie, a more sober image and less passing traffic.

A creative ads agency designs video ads built for social platforms: tested hooks, native 9:16 formats and data-driven iterations. At Esekai, every creative ad is produced in-house in Paris (script, shoot, edit), then adapted for TikTok Ads and Meta Ads to lower your acquisition costs.

Creative ads are structured advertising for paid media (TikTok Ads, Meta Ads). UGC videos mirror authentic creator content to build trust and convert. Organic content builds your social presence over the long term. The three are complementary.

We work on a six-month minimum. A video content strategy performs best over time: the first six months let us test, refine and optimise for durable, compounding results.
