Beneath the streets of Reims, in crayères cut into the chalk, the champagne houses tell the story of their craft by lamplight. Above ground, the city has 177,674 inhabitants according to Insee's 2023 reference population, in force since 1 January 2026, and a UNESCO-listed cathedral where 33 kings of France were crowned. Esekai, a Paris social content studio founded by Tony Lo, makes the journey to film on location. As a video agency, UGC agency and TikTok agency in Reims, we write and shoot for local brands.
See our workA mid-sized city 45 minutes from Paris
Reims had 187,206 inhabitants in 1999 and 177,674 in 2023, according to Insee's series. The city's population is slowly declining, but the useful audience of a Reims brand does not stop at the municipal boundaries. Le Grand Reims points out that the station is 45 minutes from Paris by TGV and 30 minutes from Roissy CDG, which makes the city a weekend getaway for many people from the Paris region. For a hotel, a cellar or a restaurant, that changes the targeting: some of the creative ads need to speak to residents (opening hours, new arrivals, lunchtime offer), others to Parisians planning their Saturday. You don't shoot the same hooks for both. The Reims resident wants to know what is changing on their street; the visitor wants to see in three seconds why they should make the trip.
Pommery, Mumm, Taittinger: filming a house without filming the party
The Union des Maisons de Champagne presents several of its Reims addresses as places of memory: the Pommery estate on the butte Saint-Nicaise and its bas-reliefs carved into the chalk of the deepest crayères, the cellars and offices that Mumm had built in 1898 near the town hall, the galleries of Taittinger and Veuve Clicquot. These settings speak for themselves, but the video must respect the Loi Évin: you talk about origin, blending, riddling, the cellar master's work, never about partying or consumption staged by a creator. Meta and TikTok's ad platforms add their own restrictions on alcohol, to be built into the script from the start. Around these houses revolve coopers, label printers, hauliers and wine tourism providers, often in B2B. For them, the challenge is to make a craft legible in forty seconds, to show a workshop, or to give a floor to a journeyman for employer branding ahead of a hiring campaign.
Pink biscuits, Boulingrin and the terraces of place d'Erlon
The Grand Reims tourism site claims 11 stars in the Michelin Guide in 2025, and the table also shows in what you can film in a single morning. The biscuit rose, a Reims speciality, lends itself to product UGC: a box opened on a table, a close-up of the icing sugar, a spontaneous opinion to camera. The Halles du Boulingrin, a covered market open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings (plus an organic market on Friday evening), give restaurateurs a natural setting for a chef's Reel shopping at the market before service. On the place Drouet-d'Erlon, pedestrianised and lined with terraces, you can easily capture the atmosphere of a brasserie at the end of the day for TikTok. On the tourism side, cellar visits remain the city's main draw: hotels and guest houses are well advised to show the real walking distance between the room and the crayère.
From the legendary epic in May to the Christmas market
The Reims calendar offers several shooting windows. In late May or early June, “Reims, l'épopée légendaire” pays tribute to Joan of Arc for a weekend, with a medieval village, troubadours and jugglers in the streets: strong material for neighbourhood businesses, provided you film early before the crowds. From June to July, the Flâneries musicales bring classical music to unexpected places. Advent brings the Christmas market, presented by the tourist office as the third in France behind Strasbourg and Colmar. Outside events, the city has its own settings: Art Deco facades rebuilt in the 1920s and 1930s after the First World War, the Saint-Remi basilica, the room of the surrender of 7 May 1945, a hundred or so parks and gardens, the green promenade along the canal. At the end of summer, the vines of the Montagne de Reims regional nature park take over.
Shooting underground, then coming back up to the street
The journey from the gare de l'Est is short, which allows us to be in place at the start of the morning without a hotel night the day before. Preparation is done remotely in advance: brief, scripts developed into several hooks, creator casting, photo scouting of locations, checking permits when filming in public space. The real technical issue in Reims is the crayères. It is cool and damp down there, the chalk reflects sound and the light is very low: we bring compact LED panels, lavalier microphones and covers for the equipment. A typical day therefore starts underground for the brand content, continues at the market or in a kitchen around midday, then in the Art Deco streets in the afternoon for UGC. We leave with enough rushes to edit several variants of the same ad.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
