It was in La Rochelle that Bunsik opened the city’s first Korean restaurant, and our TikTok and Instagram videos brought it 40% more footfall within the first two weeks. According to Insee, the city had 79,851 inhabitants in 2023, and 17.4% of them are aged 15 to 24, an audience that discovers its favourite places on social media. From Paris, we take the train to the Vieux-Port to film restaurants, shops and businesses, with formats designed for advertising as well as organic content.
See our workBunsik, the city’s first Korean restaurant
Bunsik serves Korean street food, a concept La Rochelle’s diners had never come across. The brand was starting from zero locally. We bet on immersive, educational content: how the dishes are prepared, the atmosphere of the place, how to eat them, to make Korean food feel accessible and welcoming. The results came quickly: 45,000 to 100,000 organic views per video, 2,200 Instagram followers and 2,800 TikTok followers gained in a month, and engagement 85% higher than static content. In the restaurant, footfall rose by 40% within the first two weeks, half of the first customers said they had discovered Bunsik through the videos, and 30% came back within the first month. The full details of this launch are in our Bunsik case study.
A young city around La Rochelle Université
With 79,851 inhabitants in 2023, the city is home to 13,914 young people aged 15 to 24 (Insee), more than one resident in six. La Rochelle Université had 7,592 students enrolled on 19 September 2025, up 4.2% year on year, including more than 1,800 new arrivals. This audience picks its restaurants, gyms and bars on TikTok, often in the weeks after the start of term. For a business, September is therefore a month not to miss for a discovery video: a creator of the same age who walks in, tastes and comments. The city also has 8,031 second homes and occasional-use dwellings in 2023, a second, older audience that returns for the holidays and is targeted differently, with calmer videos.
Port Atlantique and 1,531 new businesses
The commercial port, Port Atlantique La Rochelle, handled 8,776,161 tonnes in 2025 and ranks as France’s 6th port, according to its key figures. Cereals and oilseeds account for 40% of this traffic, oil products for 35%. Around the quays, handling, logistics and ship-repair companies have jobs that are hard for a candidate to picture: a video shot on a terminal or in a dry dock makes them tangible, for recruitment as well as B2B presentations. The city offers 50,639 jobs in 2023 (Insee) and saw 1,531 businesses created in 2025, including 406 in consulting, engineering and business services, and 98 in digital and communication. These young companies need a first batch of creative ads: founders on camera, the product in use, a customer testimonial shot on their premises.
Aquarium, Vieux-Port towers and the Francofolies
L’Aquarium La Rochelle welcomes nearly 800,000 visitors a year and claims to be the leading tourist attraction in Charente-Maritime; opened in its current form in 2001 with 12,000 marine animals and 600 species, it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026. On the accommodation side, Insee counts 42 hotels and 2,012 rooms at the start of 2026. This flow of visitors benefits the terraces of the Vieux-Port, the ice cream parlours and the shops in the centre, which are well advised to run short Reels before the summer. As for settings, the Tour de la Chaîne and the Tour Saint-Nicolas frame the harbour entrance, the arcaded streets of the centre give shade to July shoots, and the Minimes marina offers its pontoons. The calendar matters: the Francofolies return from 10 to 14 July 2027, and the Grand Pavois, an in-water boat show, takes over Les Minimes every end of September.
From the TGV to the Vieux-Port in a morning
Direct trains run from Paris to La Rochelle, and the station is almost next to the Aquarium and the Vieux-Port: we arrive mid-morning, kit cases in hand, and are filming within the hour. Everything is settled beforehand over video call: script, shot list, booked locations and, for UGC, the selection of creators from La Rochelle or students. A typical day goes from setting up a restaurant before service, to kitchen and dining-room shots during lunch, an interview at a company in the afternoon, then the quays at sunset, when the towers stand out against the sky. Back in Paris for the edit. Esekai, founded by Tony Lo and having served more than 350 brands, draws a range of formats ready for Meta and TikTok from every day in La Rochelle.

An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
