In Niort, the head offices of the big mutual insurers sit alongside the canoes of the Sèvre niortaise, and a brand that films here is addressing two very different audiences. Insee counts 59,854 residents there in 2023, but 48,971 jobs: a good share of those who work there sleep elsewhere. Esekai, whose offices are on rue du Colisée in Paris, makes the trip to produce TikTok and Meta adverts, UGC content and Reels on site, from the counter at Les Halles to an insurer's open-plan office floor.
See our workMAIF, MAAF, Macif: insurance since 1934
Insee recalls that MAIF was the first mutual to set up in Niort, in 1934, followed by MAAF, Macif and SMACL. The weight of this sector remains overwhelming: in the second quarter of 2025, according to Niort Agglo's economic note, 30% of the conurbation's 51,562 private-sector salaried jobs fall within financial and insurance activities. Insee also recorded 2,324 digital jobs in the same area in 2015. At these employers, the useful video rarely looks like a mass-market advert: a portrait of a claims handler for a recruitment campaign, an explanation of a cover in thirty seconds, a developer's account of an internal project. An HR department looking for technical profiles in Niort gets more from a shot filmed on its own premises than from a stock image library. Insee also cited, in local industry, Poujoulat and its chimney flues.
A town people come to work in
The Insee file for the municipality lists 48,971 jobs in 2023 for 26,028 employed residents: the employment concentration indicator reaches 188.1. In other words, Niort fills up on weekdays. For a retailer, this changes the targeting: a Meta ad timed to the lunch break and aimed at the areas around the head offices reaches employees who often live outside the municipality, whereas a weekend campaign mainly targets the people of Niort and visitors. The municipality had 5,358 active establishments in 2024, including 412 in finance and insurance, and 851 businesses were created there in 2025. These young businesses, often practices, freelancers or shops, need a first series of content to introduce themselves: a founder to camera, the shopfront, two or three customer reviews filmed in a UGC format.
From Les Halles to hotels for business clientele
Les Halles de Niort, a 19th-century site, still house a covered market where the tourist office invites visitors to discover local produce. For a caterer or a cheesemonger, it is a ready-made backdrop: the morning stall, the cutting gesture, the conversation with a regular, edited into a thirty-second Reel. On the accommodation side, Insee lists 17 hotels and 758 rooms in the municipality at 1 January 2026, including 10 three-star establishments. Part of this clientele travels for work, to the insurers' head offices. A hotel can therefore shoot two distinct videos: one for the executive on the road (arrival at the station, quiet room, quick breakfast), the other for the couple coming for a weekend to discover the Marais poitevin, since Niort is part of the regional nature park. In the conurbation, trade, transport, accommodation and food services account for 22% of private-sector salaried employment.
Donjon, Port Boinot and spring festivals
The Donjon, the only remnant of the 12th-century fortress, offers a panorama of the town from its terrace, useful for opening a brand video. Below, Port Boinot occupies the former site of the Boinot chamois-leather and glove works and is the starting point for canoe and kayak trips on the Sèvre niortaise: a UGC creator paddling while telling the story of their day, and a boat hire company's advert is practically written. On rue Ricard, four bronze dragons installed in 1992 give a transition shot that everyone in Niort recognises. The calendar matters too: in 2026, the tourist office announced the Regards Noirs festival from 5 to 7 March, Nouvelle(s) Scène(s) from 16 to 21 March, then the Rencontres de la jeune photographie internationale from 16 April to 31 May, notably at the Villa Pérochon. On 4 and 5 November 2026, a digital innovation, insurtech and risk trade fair takes place at the espace Horizon.
How a shoot in Niort works
According to the tourist office, Paris is less than two hours from Niort by TGV, and urban bus lines are free. Cameras, microphones and lights therefore travel as hand luggage, with no vehicle to hire. Everything is arranged beforehand, by video call: script approved, permits requested from the head office or shop, casting of local creators if the campaign calls for it. Shoot day often starts at Les Halles at opening, when the stalls are still immaculate. Late morning is for interviews in the company's offices, with screens masked where customer data could appear. The afternoon heads down to Port Boinot for shots by the water, and the day ends at the foot of the Donjon, in the evening light. The rushes go back to our Paris offices, where Tony Lo and his team, backed by more than 350 brands served, turn them into several opening versions to compare once they are live.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
