A thousand metres above sea level, La Chaux-de-Fonds was designed for watchmaking: straight streets, a plan as regular as a chessboard, a city shaped by and for the watch industry. The canton of Neuchâtel had 37,844 residents there at the end of 2025. We make the trip from Paris to shoot UGC videos, TikToks and Meta creative ads there, in a workshop, a museum or a street that watch enthusiasts recognise at first glance.
See our work37,844 residents, 22,912 full-time jobs
The canton of Neuchâtel's Mémento statistique 2026 gives La Chaux-de-Fonds 37,844 residents at the end of 2025, making it the canton's second-largest municipality behind Neuchâtel and its 45,455 residents. Under-20s make up 19.9% of the population. The same document records 22,912 full-time-equivalent jobs in the municipality in 2023. That volume draws cross-border workers and residents of neighbouring villages every day, who don't watch the same content. For a consumer brand, the video is then adapted in two registers: a light TikTok for young people in the Jura neuchâtelois, and a more explanatory video for working people who discover the brand during their break. For a company that is recruiting, the message is about the day-to-day of the job, filmed in the workshop itself, more than about general promises.
Workbenches, manufactures and watchmaking recruitment
According to the Mémento, watchmaking accounts for 14,654 full-time-equivalent jobs in the canton of Neuchâtel in 2023, or 15.9% of cantonal employment, spread across 279 establishments. La Chaux-de-Fonds is one of its historic centres. For a manufacture, a case or dial subcontractor, or a polishing workshop, the useful videos are precise: a regulator's gesture filmed in macro, a presentation of a little-known trade to attract apprentices, an artisan portrait for LinkedIn. Watch brands, for their part, look for launch content that shows the product on the wrist rather than against a black background. A creator who opens the box, adjusts the strap and comments on their first impression produces credible UGC, which is then tested as a Meta ad against a more editorial version.
Rue des Musées, Maison Blanche and Art Nouveau
Neuchâtel Tourisme presents the city as the Swiss capital of Art Nouveau: the city was shaped by and for watchmaking, and its buildings bear the trace. The Musée international d'horlogerie, on rue des Musées, claims more than 10,000 objects, watches and clocks from the 16th century to the present day, including automata and machines. Le Corbusier, born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret in the city, built his first works there: the Maison Blanche, the first project of the independent architect and open to the public every weekend, the Villa Schwob, known as the Villa Turque, and the Villa Fallet. For a furniture, fashion or design brand, these façades provide backdrops you won't find anywhere else. On the hospitality side, the canton recorded 280,886 overnight stays in 2025 according to the Mémento: a hotel or restaurant in town reaches these visitors with a Reel that follows a guest's route, from the museum to dinner.
Braderie, Horlofolies and Capital of Culture 2027
The UNESCO listing, obtained in 2009 for its watchmaking urban planning, made this chessboard layout known, and the Espace de l'urbanisme horloger explains it to visitors. The calendar matters as much as the places. For 2027, Neuchâtel Tourisme announces Ludesco, a games festival, in March, the Fête de mai, a music festival in July, La Plage des Six Pompes, a street theatre festival in August, and the Braderie with the Horlofolies from 3 to 5 September. Above all, La Chaux-de-Fonds will be the first Swiss Capital of Culture in 2027. For a brand that wants to take advantage of that year, it is better to shoot the product shots before the highlights and return for the atmosphere, with a light team able to work in the middle of the crowd.
Preparing a shoot in the Montagnes neuchâteloises
Esekai, founded by Tony Lo and with more than 350 brands supported, prepares this kind of trip remotely from its offices on rue du Colisée in Paris. The script is approved by video call, the venues are booked, and permits requested before departure, because filming in a manufacture often involves a confidentiality agreement and areas off-limits to cameras. When the brief calls for UGC, we cast creators from the Arc jurassien, whose accent and habits match the target customers. On site, a day can start with workshop gestures in the morning, when light comes through the big windows, continue with interviews in the offices, then finish in the streets of the centre or in front of a Le Corbusier villa. In winter, snow at this altitude means planning an indoor option. Editing is then done in Paris.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
