Built in the 18th century on the orders of the King of Sardinia to rival Geneva, Carouge has kept from that origin its low façades, inner courtyards and a genuine craft culture. The Office cantonal de la statistique counts 23,050 residents there at the end of 2025, on just 270 hectares. For the craftspeople, galleries, cafés and Geneva brands that want to show this character, we arrive from Paris with a small crew and shoot TikTok and Meta ads, UGC videos and Reels on location.
See our workA Sardinian royal town turned craftspeople's quarter
Raised to the rank of royal town in 1786 by Victor Amadeus III, Carouge was for a long time, the municipality reminds us, an island of civil and religious tolerance and a centre of crafts and trade. Its urban layout, with streets drawn straight as a die and low houses, is still cited as a model. This setting is instantly recognisable and different from a Swiss town with taller architecture: coloured shutters, arcades, flowering courtyards. For a fashion, ceramics or jewellery brand, Vieux-Carouge offers warm, human-scale backdrops, perfect for UGC videos in which a creator presents a piece as she leaves a workshop. The target audience is not only from Carouge: the municipality says so itself, the Cité sarde is much loved by all Genevans, who come to stroll there at weekends. It is this wider audience, from the canton to neighbouring France, that a geolocated Meta campaign targets.
23,050 residents on 270 hectares
OCSTAT counts 23,050 residents in Carouge at the end of 2025, a density of 8,547 residents per km² in a municipality of 270 hectares excluding the lake. Created as a Geneva municipality in 1815 and 1816, Carouge is therefore a very dense small town, right next to Geneva, where you can walk across the historic centre in a few minutes. For a brand, this density means the clientele is close, mobile and constantly solicited. A shop or café has to stand out within a very short radius, and the content that works is ultra-local: the owner behind the counter, the recognisable street, the neighbourhood customer. The municipality also runs a youth integration scheme for 18 to 30 year-olds, Projets Emploi Jeunes, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary: local employers recruiting young people have every interest in short videos published where this audience is, on TikTok and Instagram.
Place du Marché: Wednesday, Saturday and Thursday evening
The Carouge market is held on Place du Marché and Rue Saint-Joseph on Wednesday and Saturday from 6 am to 2 pm, all year round, and a Thursday evening market, from 4 pm to 9 pm, is added from March to November, in an atmosphere the City describes as Mediterranean. You will find cheeses, artisan charcuterie, seafood and fish from the lake, delicatessen goods, local wines and specialty roasted coffee. From March to December, a flea market sets up on the first Sunday of every month with the shops open. For a restaurant, a wine merchant or a coffee roaster, these events are the natural setting for a Reel: the producer, the tasting, the cup set down on a terrace table. The Thursday evening also gives end-of-day light and a relaxed crowd, perfect for UGC sequences shot spontaneously with the agreement of the people filmed.
Parcours Céramique, Carouge Magique and Fête japonaise
The municipality has a very full calendar. In autumn, the Parcours Céramique Carouge, the Fête japonaise, the Grande Braderie and Art Carouge liven up the streets. In winter, Carouge Magique transforms the town with art installations, an ice rink, a Christmas market, illuminations, concerts and shops open on Sundays; Carouge fête la BD takes over. In spring the terraces return, along with the Printemps carougeois and Carouge dessiné, before a summer the City sums up as palm trees, ice-cream parlours and festivities. From 5 November to 3 December 2026, the Trajets gallery hosts, for the fifth year, a pop-up shop of some twenty local designers and craftspeople. For a shopkeeper, each highlight is an opportunity to post: the teaser beforehand, the behind-the-scenes during, the thank-you afterwards, with footage shot on the day.
Organising a shoot in Carouge
The crew reaches Geneva by TGV from Paris, then Carouge by tram in a few stops, with equipment that fits in bags: everything is then done on foot in Vieux-Carouge. Before the day itself, we fix the script, openings, scene sequence and the choice of Geneva or regional creators remotely, and check with the municipality the permits needed to film on public ground. A typical day starts on Place du Marché on a Wednesday or Saturday as the stalls are being set up, continues at your premises for product shots and interviews, then ends in the streets and courtyards of the historic centre, or at the Thursday evening market in season. In the evening, back by train, and the following week you receive short edits designed to be published through the Carouge seasons.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
