Photography was born here: Nicéphore Niépce, its inventor, was born in Chalon-sur-Saône in 1765. Two and a half centuries later, the town still tells its story in images, between the Saône quays, half-timbered houses and factories that are hiring. The commune had 45,102 inhabitants in 2023 according to Insee. We prepare the shoots of Chalon's manufacturers, shopkeepers and restaurateurs in Paris, then come to film their UGC content, their TikToks and their employer brand videos on site.

The population of Chalon-sur-Saône is stable: 45,102 inhabitants in 2023, with no change since 2017 according to Insee. The commune does, however, have 31,681 jobs, a little over two jobs for every three inhabitants. It is the centre of an employment area that spills well over into neighbouring communes. For a local brand, the real customer base therefore comes from the whole conurbation: employees who have lunch in town, families who come shopping on Saturdays, visitors passing through on the Paris-Lyon axis. An ad shown only to residents of the commune would miss most of these audiences. We often adapt one video into two versions: one that speaks to people from Chalon with their own reference points, the other to residents of the neighbouring villages, with the journey, the parking and the reason to come.
Eight factories and 2,000 jobs announced in the Grand Chalon
The Grand Chalon says that in 2024 eight factories were under construction or planned on its territory, with 2,000 new jobs expected by 2029. Its historic sectors are mechanical engineering and metallurgy, digital engineering, electronics, nuclear and logistics, and industry accounts for 10,000 jobs there, or 25% of the area's jobs according to the conurbation. It even created Viva Factory, an event designed in Chalon to make industrial trades known to the general public and to young people. For these companies, recruitment video is a production tool like any other. A welder presenting his workstation, a technician explaining her machine, a young apprentice telling the story of their first year: these portraits shot in the workshop speak louder than a job ad.
Côte chalonnaise, shops and terraces on the quays
Chalon is a town of trade and services: at the end of 2024, Insee counted 1,854 employer establishments there, of which 75.6% in trade, transport and services and 70.6% with 1 to 9 employees. There are many independent shops, restaurants and wine merchants, who benefit from the proximity of the Côte chalonnaise, a vineyard that the tourist office places at the town's gates, with five appellations including Rully, Mercurey, Givry and Montagny. For a wine merchant, a bottle of Mercurey or Givry opened to camera, with a few words about the estate, makes a simple and effective Reel. For a restaurant on the quays, the terrace beside the Saône at the end of the day, a cut of Charolais beef and a glass of red make up the shot that customers will recognise. A UGC video shot by a creator discovering the shop while strolling the pedestrian streets gives the same impression of proximity.
Saint-Vincent, île Saint-Laurent and Chalon dans la rue
Labelled a Ville d'art et d'histoire, Chalon has a very photogenic old centre, the tourist office points out: Saint-Vincent cathedral and its cloister, the Évêché, Marcilly and Doyenné towers, the 16th-century bastions and the medieval houses with stair towers. The quays and the île Saint-Laurent, linked by the pont Saint-Laurent, offer the widest shots, with the Saône in reflection. The calendar matters a great deal here. Chalon dans la rue, the street arts festival, will celebrate its 40th anniversary from 22 to 25 July 2027: four days when the whole town becomes a stage, perfect for a brand that wants atmosphere, much less so for a quiet shoot. The rest of the year, weekday mornings leave the alleys and quays almost empty.
By TGV or the A6, a well-planned day
We reach Chalon-sur-Saône by train or by the A6 when the equipment is heavier, the town being on the Paris-Lyon axis. For an industrial site, preparation starts several weeks beforehand: shot list approved by management and the safety department, confidential zones and machines, protective equipment, shift times. For a shop, we settle the script, the hooks and the profile of the creators. On the day of the shoot, we start at the workshop or in the shop at opening time, do the interviews late in the morning, then the exteriors on the quays or in the old centre in the afternoon, with the spoken hooks of a UGC creator. Back in Paris, we edit the footage, with versions for TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn, ready to run in your job ads or your campaigns.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
