Twenty-two metres long, eleven high: Bartholdi's Lion, carved from pink sandstone beneath the Citadelle, gives Belfort an emblem everyone recognises. The city has 45,912 residents in 2023 according to Insee, but its economy, geared towards industry and energy, radiates across the whole of northern Franche-Comté. We make the trip from Paris to shoot Meta and TikTok ads, UGC videos and Reels that show Belfort businesses as they really are.
See our workIndustrie 4.H and the hydrogen sector
The Grand Belfort highlights the Transformation d'un territoire industriel project, born in 2017 in Nord Franche-Comté and named a winner of the Territoires d'innovation programme in September 2019. Planned over eight years, it comprises 29 actions across three strands, including industrie 4.H, which aims to guide companies towards the industry of the future while keeping people at the centre, and the development of hydrogen uses in mobility and industry. For the manufacturers concerned, video has two missions. First, recruiting: technicians, welders, process engineers, who respond more to a TikTok shot in the workshop than to a job ad. Second, explaining: a process, a hydrogen charging station, a modernised line are better understood through forty seconds of filmed demonstration than through ten pages of brochure, on LinkedIn for clients as well as on Instagram for the general public.
A central city that provides more jobs than homes
According to Insee, Belfort has 25,737 jobs in 2023 for 17,126 employed residents, and its population fell from 53,214 in 1968 to 45,912 in 2023. 15-24 year-olds make up 16.8% of residents in 2023. Trade, transport, hospitality and catering account for 949 of the 3,416 active establishments in 2024, or 27.8%. The 2025 amenities database lists 35 bakery-pâtisseries and 76 hairdressing salons. For a town-centre business, the clientele therefore mixes residents, students and employees from across the urban area. A shop that publishes a Reel every week, shot in the street with a sales assistant or a customer speaking to camera, builds a loyal local audience without a large media budget.
Citadelle, Grand souterrain and Fréry market
At the top of the Citadelle, the former pink sandstone barracks houses the History Museum and a space dedicated to Bartholdi, with a panoramic terrace. Below, the Grand souterrain, a former medieval moat covered over by Vauban in 1749, could shelter more than 1,000 men and is still heated by ten large fireplaces, now lit up. The tourist office also cites the Porte de Brisach, the Place de la République in the Haussmann-style district, the Quai Vauban along the Savoureuse and the Fréry market. For a shoot, these places offer very different moods within a few minutes' walk: pink stone and panorama for a fashion brand, a vaulted underground passage for a more dramatic video, market stalls for a restaurant. In summer, the Un été sous les murailles programme offers more than 70 open-air events, concerts and tours.
Eurockéennes at Malsaucy, Entrevues in November
The Eurockéennes take place on the Malsaucy peninsula, between the Véronne pond and Lac du Malsaucy, 7 kilometres from Belfort, in the municipality of Sermamagny, with more than 50 concerts and a temporary campsite for over 15,000 festival-goers; the 2027 edition is announced for 2 to 5 July. The rest of the year, this 55-hectare lake welcomes more than 100,000 visitors. For a drinks, fashion or camping gear brand, the festival offers a young audience and an atmosphere that can be filmed as UGC in the midst of the crowd. In November, Entrevues, the international festival of young independent cinema, held from 16 to 22 November in 2026, draws a film-loving audience to Belfort: a good moment for a café, bar or bookshop wanting to publish atmosphere content. Winters are harsh, and exterior shots are better filmed from May to October.
Organising a shoot day in Belfort
Belfort is reached by TGV from Paris, via the Belfort-Montbéliard TGV station, then by rail shuttle to the centre. Before boarding the train, we fix the script, openings, shot sequence, the choice of Franche-Comté creators if the target is local, and permits to film in public space or on an industrial site. In a factory, we follow the operator's safety instructions and film operators' real gestures. A typical day starts at the foot of the Lion at sunrise, when the low light brings out the sandstone, then moves on to your workshop or shop for details and interviews, and ends at the Fréry market or on the Quai Vauban. Rushes review begins on the TGV back, so that the first edit proposals reach you quickly.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
