On the former textile site of Plaine Images in Tourcoing, video game and music studios now occupy the walls of old factories. Its 98,772 inhabitants (Insee figure, 2023) make up a population in which a large share of the working residents leave every morning to work elsewhere in the Lille metropolitan area. For its brands, shops and studios, Esekai leaves Paris for the length of a shoot and returns with ads, UGC content, Reels and TikTok formats designed for this young, mobile audience.
See our workMore working residents than local jobs
Tourcoing works the opposite way to many mid-sized towns. In 2023, Insee counts 38,020 employed resident workers for 29,062 jobs in the commune, an employment concentration indicator of 76.4: many Tourcoing residents work in another commune. For a local brand, the consequence is simple: you reach residents in the evening, at weekends and on their commutes, not at lunchtime. The population is also young: 14,153 residents are aged between 15 and 24, and pupils, students and unpaid trainees account for 11.9% of 15 to 64-year-olds. This audience watches TikTok and Instagram more than outdoor advertising. The census-based unemployment rate reaches 18.9% in 2023: recruitment videos from a local retailer or temp agency find an attentive audience here, provided they are frank about the roles.
Vertbaudet, e-commerce and neighbourhood retail
Vertbaudet was born in Tourcoing in 1963 and has set up its new head office there: 4,500 m² on the site of the former Halle Sernam, for more than 300 employees, according to FashionUnited. Vertbaudet's story sheds light on what local brands expect from video: content that sells online, tested in several versions. A parent unboxing a parcel, a product demonstration filmed in a real living room, a UGC video shot by a creator from the North: these formats feed Meta and TikTok campaigns. On the street side, 25.1% of active establishments in 2024, or 1,619, are in retail, transport, accommodation or catering according to Insee, and 1,561 businesses were created in 2025. Hospitality remains thin, with 4 hotels and 262 rooms at the start of 2026: shops and restaurants address residents and local employees first.
Plaine Images and its studios
At Plaine Images, a converted former textile site, EuraCreative runs a hub devoted to the cultural and creative industries: video games, music, audiovisual, design and live performance, with the Université de Lille and the Institut catholique de Lille among its partners. In these studios, video is not just an advertising medium. A game studio needs short trailers for TikTok, devlogs filmed in the open-plan office, portraits of developers for recruiting. A music or design start-up wants to show its team and premises to investors as well as candidates. The volumes of the former industrial buildings give shots that stand out from standard offices. We shoot there with a reduced crew so as not to block the neighbours' work, and plan several formats from the script stage: 9:16 for social networks, 16:9 for LinkedIn or a careers page.
Le Fresnoy, the MUba and the autumn jazz
Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains, presents Panorama 28, entitled “Invisibles ?”, from 11 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, with more than 50 new works by its artists. The MUba Eugène Leroy, on rue Paul Doumer, is open every day from 1pm to 6pm except Tuesday. Tourcoing Jazz, rooted in the city since 1986, bills itself as the oldest jazz festival in Hauts-de-France and holds its 40th edition in autumn 2026. This calendar sketches out the best shooting windows: autumn for cultural content and evening outings, winter for exhibitions, spring for terraces and parks. For a restaurant near the centre, a Reel shot on a concert night shows a full room and an atmosphere that photos don't capture. For a cultural venue, a short tour video filmed outside opening hours prepares the audience.
A shoot organised from Paris
Tourcoing is easy to reach: a train to Lille, then the metro to the town centre. The team travels light, which lets us link two or three locations in a day without a car. Everything is prepared beforehand, over video call: script, shot list, written consent of venues and the people filmed, casting of UGC creators from the North so the faces look like Northern customers. The morning is often spent at the company's premises, warehouse or offices, for testimonials and demonstrations. The afternoon is for lifestyle scenes, in a flat, a shop or a park, and the evening for city shots. The footage then goes to the Paris edit suite of Esekai, Tony Lo's company, which counts more than 350 client brands and delivers each film in several hook variants.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
