Rebuilt from the ruins of 1914-1918, Saint-Quentin lines up Art Deco façades that the eye picks out immediately in a TikTok feed. The most populous municipality in the Aisne according to Insee, with 52,813 inhabitants in 2023, it has held the Ville d'art et d'histoire label since 2006. From the 8th arrondissement of Paris, the Esekai team travels up for a day or two and comes back with Reels, UGC and Meta ads for the shops, factories and museums of the Saint-Quentinois, with no office on site.
See our workBasilica, flamboyant Gothic town hall and Art Deco streets
The City itself sums up its heritage in four elements: the former collegiate church turned basilica, the flamboyant Gothic town hall, the Art Deco façades and the underground tunnels. Each corresponds to a specific use in video. The forecourt of the town hall, with its sculpted façade, works as an opening shot for anyone who wants to say "this is Saint-Quentin". The Art Deco streets, with their bow windows and geometric lines, suit a clothing shop or a decorator looking for a graphic backdrop for a try-on or a product presentation. The basilica, immense when seen from the surrounding streets, gives scale to a wide shot. The tunnels cannot be improvised: a discovery-style format there requires the agreement of the heritage services and a guide. We scout these locations before the day itself to choose the hour when the sun rakes across the reliefs of the buildings.
Hospital, local authorities and the area's factories
Insee counts 44,844 jobs in 2021 in the Saint-Quentin arrondissement, nearly a quarter of the jobs in the Aisne, and 78% of them are concentrated in the Saint-Quentinois urban community. The main employers are the hospital, the town hall and the urban community. Industry is mostly found in neighbouring municipalities: Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe makes motorcycles in Rouvroy, while Soprocos and Fapagau et Cie work in cosmetics in Gauchy. These employers have one thing in common, the need to recruit. A recruitment film made in a hospital department, an interview with an operator on a packaging line or a portrait of a technician filmed next to a two-wheeler coming off the line says more than a job ad. For the B2B suppliers of these sites, we also produce short demonstrations for LinkedIn.
52,813 inhabitants, and customers to keep
Saint-Quentin had 67,243 inhabitants in 1975 and 52,813 in 2023 according to Insee. The decline affects the whole arrondissement, whose population fell by 0.4% a year on average from 2016 to 2022, and where 21.7% of people were aged 65 or over in 2021. For a local business, this context changes the goal of the videos: less about winning new customers than looking after those who already exist and getting them to come back. The formats that work are concrete. A bakery shows Saturday's batch coming out of the oven, a garage explains a service in thirty seconds, a restaurant announces its lunch menu in a story. On Facebook, for the oldest audience, we favour subtitled, unhurried videos, shot with the shopkeeper in person. On TikTok, local creators try out a place and give their honest opinion, which reassures more than a brand speech.
La Tour's pastels, the Plages and the Fête du Bouffon
The Antoine-Lécuyer museum holds around a hundred pastel works by Maurice-Quentin de La Tour, Louis XV's official portraitist, born and died in Saint-Quentin, according to the Ministry of Culture's entry. The building, destroyed in 1917, was rebuilt to plans by the architect Paul Bigot, to whom the project was entrusted in 1927. For a hotelier or a B&B, this is an argument worth filming: a visit told by a guest, edited into a Reel for weekends from Paris or Lille. The municipal calendar provides other settings: the Plages, the Fête du Bouffon, the flower market, the Saint-Denis fair and the Christmas village are among the events the City lists. For restaurants and chip shops in the centre, these days lend themselves to UGC videos shot on the fly, a customer at the table, a plate in the foreground.
Paris Nord, 1 h 10 and a tight shooting plan
According to the City, 18 daily services link Saint-Quentin to Paris Nord in 1 h 10, enough for a round trip on a single date. The team steps off the train with reduced equipment and moves around the centre without a car, where the town hall, the basilica and the shopping streets almost touch. Everything is settled remotely: script approved, locations booked, requests to use public space, casting of creators from the Aisne or the Somme if the brand wants local faces. A classic schedule links a shop in the morning, a factory in the area in early afternoon, then the Art Deco façades in the setting sun. For a TikTok agency, this proximity to Paris has real value: we can come back to film a follow-up as soon as the first ad tests identify the winning hook.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
