Every spring, virtual and augmented reality specialists from around the world gather in Laval: the Laval Virtual show, launched in 1999, will hold its 29th edition from 7 to 9 April 2027. This town of 49,400 inhabitants in 2023, according to Insee, is also the birthplace of Lactalis. We travel from Paris to shoot UGC videos, TikTok formats and social ads, from technology demos to restaurant Reels, with the Mayenne as a backdrop.
See our workLaval Virtual, three days for extended reality
The Laval Virtual website announces 200 exhibitors and 80 speakers, and presents the event as three days to take action in XR. For a company in the sector, it is a key moment of visibility, and video plays a particular role: virtual reality is hard to sell in text and not much easier in photos. What convinces is the face of a person discovering the experience, filmed at the same time as what they see in the headset. We shoot this kind of demo on the stand or, better still, a few days earlier at the company's premises, in peace and quiet, then adapt it into short formats for LinkedIn, Meta ads aimed at professional buyers and TikTok to reach a wider audience. During the show, a light crew captures visitors' reactions to enrich the series.
From Le Petit Lavallois to service SMEs
Lactalis recalls on its website that the Besnier company was born in Laval in 1933, when André Besnier began making camembert under the brand “Le Petit Lavallois”. This dairy past is part of the local identity. Today, Insee counts 2,292 employer establishments in the commune at the end of 2024, of which 74.4% are in trade, transport and services; 62.2% have 1 to 9 employees and 24.2% have 10 or more. The town offered 36,519 jobs in 2023. For the larger of these companies, the most useful video is often employer branding: employee portraits, a sixty-second presentation of a job, behind the scenes of a production site, to be published where candidates are.
Vieux-Château and Romanesque chapel
According to the tourist office, the fortress of Laval was built by Guy I in the 11th century, along an old road that crossed the Mayenne. Visitors can see a 12th-century chapel with groin vaults, a keep with an exceptional 13th-century timber frame and hoardings, those overhanging wooden galleries, and can even take a “spéléo-visite” (a cave-style tour) beneath the current museum. For a hotel, restaurant or shop in the centre, this château overlooking the river provides a backdrop that people from Laval recognise immediately. A discovery Reel that starts from the quays, climbs towards the château and then comes back down through the old streets to your venue places the address within seconds. For a guide, a leisure company or a museum, unusual visits make great short vertical stories.
Towpath, guinguettes and year-end Lights
The Mayenne towpath, the gateway to the Vélo Francette, attracts walkers and cyclists, with guinguettes (open-air riverside cafés) and themed cruises along the river. In summer, it is the setting for terrace Reels and outdoor leisure ads. In winter, the town changes its look: the Lumières de Laval will run from 21 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 on the theme “Bal de Noël”, with a launch evening on 21 November from 6:45 pm and cruises aboard the Vallis Guidonis amid the illuminations. For a shop, a restaurant or a gift brand, this period is the most favourable for atmosphere video: lit shop windows, lively streets, an illuminated river. We shoot the product shots beforehand and keep one evening to capture the lights.
Demo in the morning, Mayenne in the evening
Laval is linked to Paris by high-speed rail, so we can arrive in the morning without an overnight stay. For a technology company, we devote these first hours to the demo: headset, control screen and the user's face are filmed at the same time, with controlled lighting. For a manufacturer, the morning slot serves production, when the lines are running. Creators, when the project calls for them, are found in Mayenne or neighbouring départements. After lunch, we record interviews in a quiet room. The end of the day belongs to the river: towpath, quays and château, to give the videos a Laval anchor. We then deliver a long version and short cuts adapted to each network.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
