A hippopotamus of wood and steel that passers-by operate themselves, in the middle of a square that could once gather twenty thousand soldiers: La Roche-sur-Yon offers settings that no one mistakes for anywhere else. The prefecture of the Vendée had 54,699 residents in 2022 according to Insee, and its urban area draws well beyond that. Our Paris team makes the trip to film UGC videos, TikTok content and Meta ads designed for local brands, shops and employers.
See our work54,699 residents and an urban area of 13 municipalities
Insee counts 54,699 residents in the town in 2022, with average growth of 0.3% a year since 2016, and 22.3% aged 15 to 29. Around it, La Roche-sur-Yon Agglomération brings together 13 municipalities and 98,300 residents on 1 January 2021, according to its projet de territoire, 2024 edition: the first urban area in the département. For a brand, that means a catchment area that extends well beyond the central town. An ad served on Instagram must speak as much to the employee who comes from Mouilleron-le-Captif or Aubigny-Les Clouzeaux as to the resident of the centre. We build the scripts accordingly: visual landmarks that the whole area recognises (place Napoléon, the chessboard streets, the Haras), and different hooks depending on whether we are aiming at families settled in the outer ring or young professionals in the centre.
56,000 jobs, 57 business parks
The same Agglomération document counts 56,000 jobs and 9,700 active establishments in early 2024, of which 1,720 are spread across 57 economic activity zones covering 1,110 hectares. It notes 135 jobs for every 100 employed residents: every morning, part of the Vendée comes to work here. The area highlights its digital and robotics sectors. For these companies, video serves very concrete purposes: showing an assembly line or a workshop to candidates torn between several Vendée employers, explaining a technical product in under a minute on LinkedIn, introducing a director before a trade show. We shoot in the buildings themselves, with the teams who work there, because an operator filmed at their station is more convincing than a voice-over on generic footage.
8,340 students, an audience to capture on TikTok
La Roche-sur-Yon Agglomération hosts 8,340 students across 29 institutions, and that number has risen by 54% in seven years according to its projet de territoire. More than 3,300 of them are work-study students, or 39%. For a company that recruits work-study students, it is a precise audience, reachable on TikTok and Instagram with short formats shot by creators of the same age: a typical apprentice's day, a tutor answering questions, a tour of the premises filmed at shoulder height. Shops and restaurants in the centre also target this clientele. A bar or a sandwich shop near the educational institutions does well to publish UGC videos showing the order, the counter and the lunchtime atmosphere, rather than a posed photo of a dish.
Place Napoléon, the Haras and the film festival
Place Napoléon took on its current look in 2014, after two years of works led by François Delarozière, of the La Machine company, and the urban planner Alexandre Chemetoff. In its pools, a mechanical crocodile, dromedary or hippopotamus moves when visitors operate the controls: a shot that works immediately as a Reel opener. A few streets away, the Haras de la Vendée occupies a 4.5-hectare park in the town centre, in a stud farm built in 1846, with equestrian shows in summer. On the calendar side, the Festival international du film held its 16th edition from 13 to 19 October 2025, with more than 150 screenings at the Concorde, the Cyel, the Grand R and the Quai M according to the CNC. In mid-October, the cinemas and cafés in the centre fill up: a good moment to film an evening atmosphere.
How we organise a shoot in La Roche-sur-Yon
Esekai, founded by Tony Lo, has supported more than 350 brands from its offices at 40 rue du Colisée, in Paris. For La Roche-sur-Yon, we take the train from Montparnasse, with or without a change at Nantes depending on the timetable. The work begins before the trip: script approved by video call, shot list, permits for public places, casting of Vendée creators when the campaign calls for UGC. On site, a day often lets us film interviews on your premises in the morning, product or service scenes in the early afternoon, then city shots once the animals on the square come to life. Back in Paris, we edit several versions of each video, with different hooks to test in advertising.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
