At mid-Lent, La Louvière wakes to the sound of drums and the clogs of its Gilles, crowned with ostrich feathers, who hand out oranges by the thousand: the Laetare keeps alive a tradition 150 years old. The City of Wolves has 81,751 inhabitants on 1 January 2026 according to Statbel, as reproduced by IWEPS. Between Mons and Charleroi, its shops and businesses have everything to gain from showing themselves on social media, and we come from Paris to shoot UGC videos, Reels and TikTok ads here.
See our workThree days of Laetare, from the Soumonces to the procession
The Laetare carnival lasts three days, the town reminds us; in 2027, it will take place on 7, 8 and 9 March, preceded by the Soumonces, a kind of rehearsal in which all the Gilles societies parade. Sunday begins at dawn with the collecting of the Gilles in the neighbourhoods, before fireworks around 9 p.m. at place Communale. On Monday, the procession leaves at 5 p.m. from place Maugrétout, led by the giants D'Jobri and D'Jobrette, symbols of the town. For a shopkeeper, these weeks are a high point: a café that films the preparation of its room, a bakery that presents its carnival products, a shop that tells the story of the festival in UGC. Respect for traditions comes first: the folklore is filmed with the agreement of the societies and of the people visible, never reduced to a mere advertising backdrop.
81,751 inhabitants, a town at the heart of Hainaut
IWEPS's WalStat municipal profile gives 81,751 inhabitants on 1 January 2026 over 64.6 km², or 1,266.3 inhabitants per km², with an average age of 42.1. People of foreign nationality make up 16.73% of the population, of whom 13.05% are nationals of the European Union. The commune brings together many former communes, from Strépy-Bracquegnies to Haine-Saint-Pierre and Houdeng, each with its own squares and market. For a brand, this means a very local audience, attached to its neighbourhood, that responds to places and faces it knows. A Meta ad geotargeted on the entity, shot with creators from La Louvière, works better than a generic campaign designed for Brussels or for France.
400 town-centre shops and 12 business parks
Business in La Louvière, the town's economic department, highlights 12 industrial parks, 400 town-centre shops and 8 Boutiques Tremplin, retail units intended for launching and testing a project. For a shopkeeper setting up, video is the most direct tool for making yourself known: a presentation of the shop filmed on opening day, a portrait of the manager, a series of Reels showing the products. For a company based in a business park, the challenge is often recruitment: WalStat counts 28,129 employed people among residents in 2023, and many candidates look for a job close to home. A video shot on site, with an employee explaining their job and their commute, is distributed on Facebook and TikTok within a radius of a few kilometres, where these candidates are.
Keramis, Boch and the markets of place Maugrétout
Keramis, the ceramics centre, preserves and showcases the earthenware production of Boch La Louvière, a company active from 1841 to 2009, with the scientific collaboration of the musée de Mariemont, and also exhibits today's ceramicists. For a tableware or home decor brand, or a craftsperson, it is a setting and a story to tell. On the commerce side, markets punctuate the week: place Maugrétout on Monday and Thursday mornings, place Mansart and the Abelville district on Saturday morning, and other markets in the sections of the entity. A restaurateur or caterer can film their morning shopping there, then the preparation in the kitchen. The Maison du Tourisme du Pays du Centre, based at place Jules Mansart, recalls that the town was designated a European Destination of Excellence for cultural tourism in 2017, an argument for a hotel or restaurant that welcomes visitors.
Preparing a shoot in the Centre
La Louvière is reached by train from Paris via Brussels or Mons, or by car on the motorway, which often remains more practical for getting around the sections of the entity afterwards. Before the day itself, we work out remotely the script, the first seconds, the running order and the selection of Hainaut creators, and we submit permit requests to the town to film in public space. A typical day starts at the place Maugrétout market, then settles into your shop or company to film the offer and the people behind it, then heads for the canal du Centre, whose boat lifts offer spectacular industrial shots. The rushes come back with us to Paris, where they are edited into short formats suited to Facebook as much as to TikTok.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
