In the former villa of the ARBED director, the Nei Liicht art centre has been showing contemporary photography and audiovisual art since 1982; the town is also home to the Centre national de l'audiovisuel, created in 1989, which preserves Luxembourg's memory in images. Dudelange has made the image a matter for the whole town. Esekai, which shoots from Paris for brands in Luxembourg as well as in France, comes to film UGC videos, TikTok formats and Meta ads that draw on this steelmaking past turned cultural setting.
See our workNeiSchmelz, a district on the traces of the rolling mill
The town explains that the NeiSchmelz project began in 2005, with the definitive closure of the rolling mill, and that nearly 40 hectares of the former site are to become a CO2-neutral eco-district. Some halls have already found a new life: the “VeWa”, a former changing-room and wagon hall inaugurated on 14 May 2022, and the locomotive hall, intended to house a micro-brewery and catering. For a developer, a bank or a housing-related brand, this building site is a story in itself: a video that shows yesterday's steel and tomorrow's apartments speaks to future residents. For a restaurant or an entertainment venue set up in these halls, the brick, metal and large volumes make very graphic Reels, to be shot in the late afternoon, when light comes in through the glass roofs.
Town-centre retail and the Southern region
To attract shopkeepers, the town highlights the new town-centre developments, a growing population and high purchasing power in the Southern region, as well as good access by road and public transport. For a shop, a restaurant or a local service, this argues for regular local communication: a series of short videos, shot in a day, showing the product, the gesture and the person behind the counter. The Luxembourg audience is multilingual, and the same ad often benefits from existing in several versions, with subtitles in French, German or Luxembourgish depending on the target. We plan these adaptations from the writing stage, so that each version keeps its own rhythm and hook.
Opderschmelz, jazz and festivals
The regional cultural centre opderschmelz, created in 2007, offers a multidisciplinary programme and presents itself as a reference venue for jazz lovers; it organises the Touch of Noir and Like a Jazz Machine festivals, according to the town. For a bar, a restaurant or a drinks brand, these events bring a going-out audience that a video shot in advance can attract. For an artist, a label or an organiser, concerts are filmed in short formats: a few seconds of stage, the audience reacting, a backstage interview, cut for Instagram and TikTok. We work with a small crew during events, with the organisers' agreement, and keep the venue shots and testimonials for quiet hours, before the doors open.
Water tower, Pomhouse and a view of the town
The water tower houses exhibition galleries in its base and its tank, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view over Dudelange and the surrounding landscape, and the Pomhouse, a former pumping station, sets a historic collection in dialogue with new creation, according to the town. The CNA, attached to the Ministry of Culture, has the mission of preserving and promoting the country's audiovisual heritage through exhibitions, screenings and publications. For a brand, these places offer strong settings, to be used with their managers' agreement: a wide shot from the tank places an address in the town in a second, and the industrial volumes suit fashion or design shoots. The Dominique Lang art centre completes this offer for cultural brands that want to align themselves with the local art scene.
Shooting in two languages in a former factory
In Dudelange, the question of language is settled before the question of framing. We write each line in French and in the language chosen for the second version, German or Luxembourgish, and cast creators able to switch from one to the other. Arriving from Paris the day before, we begin with the interiors, converted halls, restaurant or shop, with the managers' agreement obtained in advance. Each take is shot in both languages, back to back, to keep the same light. The afternoon is for interviews, then we go out onto the NeiSchmelz site when the low light catches the brick and steel. The edit delivers twin versions, each ready to be distributed to its own audience.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
