The former capital of the States of Savoy, Chambéry has arcaded streets and squares you recognise in a second in a Reel. The town had 59,964 residents in 2023 according to Insee, and every year more than 1,500 international students join the Université Savoie Mont Blanc, according to the town. For the shops, businesses and hotels of the Chambéry area, we make the trip from Paris with a shooting plan already settled, and we leave with UGC, TikTok and advertising content ready to run.
See our workA mid-sized city that punches above its weight
Insee's figures describe a stable city: 59,964 residents in 2023, growth of 0.3% a year on average since 2017, and a density of 2,856.8 inhabitants per km². The more telling figure is employment: 42,579 jobs in the town in 2023, for fewer than 60,000 residents. Every morning, part of Savoie therefore converges on Chambéry to work, get medical care, study or shop. For a brand, that changes how you run ads. An ad that only targets residents of the town misses those who spend their days there without sleeping there. We generally prepare two versions of the same video: one that talks about the neighbourhood and the streets Chambériens know, the other about the commute, the car park, lunchtime.
University, exports and 400 foreign subsidiaries
According to the town, the Université Savoie Mont Blanc has partnerships with 379 universities in 57 countries, and Savoie has more than 400 branches of foreign multinationals. The local fabric is nonetheless made up of small businesses: at the end of 2024, Insee counted 2,774 employer establishments in Chambéry, 69.1% of them with 1 to 9 employees and 74.5% in trade, transport and services. A subsidiary recruiting engineers or bilingual salespeople needs to show office life and the mountains nearby, two arguments that matter to a candidate coming from elsewhere. A services SME, for its part, benefits from showing the faces of its managers. For these companies we shoot staff portraits, one-minute job presentations and LinkedIn formats subtitled in French and English.
Les Halles on place de Genève, five mornings a week
The covered Halles market brings together 27 traders over 1,200 m², Tuesday to Saturday from 6am to 1.30pm, with butchers, fishmongers, cheesemongers, greengrocers, delicatessens and a bar, Le Bistrot des Halles. On Saturday, the open-air market extends across place de Genève and rues De Maistre and Favre, and on Wednesday afternoon an organic and local market takes over. This is where a cheesemonger films a tomme being cut, a caterer shows a tartiflette coming out of the oven, a UGC creator does their shopping and comments on it. Restaurants in the centre benefit from posting in the cold season, when customers are looking for a fondue or a raclette before heading up to the resorts. A twenty-second Reel, with the cheese stretching and the address on screen, often does more than a poster in the centre.
Les Charmettes, the fine arts museum and festivals
Les Charmettes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau's house up on the hillside, is open Tuesday to Sunday from April to October, then only at weekends from November to March: a garden and old-house setting for a fashion or cosmetics brand. In town, the Elephants fountain, the château of the dukes of Savoy and the covered walkways serve as a backdrop for street formats, sheltered when it rains. The musée des Beaux-Arts is on place du Palais de Justice, where a market of manufactured goods sets up every Saturday. On the calendar side, the town cites among its internationally minded events the Festival du Premier Roman, the Festival des Cultures du Monde, Ciné Bala and Migrant'scène. And on match nights for Team Chambé, the handball club, the bars fill with jerseys.
Preparing from Paris, filming in a single trip
We go to Chambéry by train from Gare de Lyon, with light equipment that fits in a few bags. Everything is decided before departure: script, hooks, locations, times, permits if a scene is shot in public space, and creator casting. A typical day starts early at Les Halles, before the crowds, for the traders' gestures and the products. In late morning, we move to your premises for interviews and shots of the work. The afternoon is reserved for exteriors under the arcades or up on the heights, then for the talking shots of a UGC creator who records several openings for the ads. Post-production then takes place on rue du Colisée, with one version per network. If your business depends on the ski resorts, we schedule the date early in the season so that the videos are online when customers book.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
