In Grenoble, the mountains come into frame from almost every street in the centre, and that is the setting our TikTok and Meta creative ads put to work. The city has 156,140 residents as of 1 January 2023 according to Insee (municipal population in force since 2026), in a basin where the laboratories and major European instruments of the Presqu'île sit alongside the shops of the centre. Esekai, a Grenoble video agency for social media, comes from Paris to shoot on location: UGC, Reels, organic TikTok and ads for the city's labs, shops and restaurants.

Insee counts 156,140 residents in Grenoble in municipal population and 158,303 in total population (2023 reference, published at the end of 2025). It is a compact, flat city, wedged between the Chartreuse, the Vercors and Belledonne, that you cross quickly by bike or tram. For a Meta campaign, this figure changes how you target: a municipality of this size is not enough to feed a creative test, so you need to widen the radius to the urban area and the neighbouring valleys. Part of the audience also comes from afar: the Institut Laue-Langevin, co-founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), both on the Presqu'île, bring in foreign researchers. We often plan two versions of the same ad, subtitled in French and in English, and hooks that talk about the mountains on Fridays, when weekend outings to the Chartreuse, the Vercors or a ski resort are being planned.
From the 1892 electricity courses to the Presqu'île labs
Grenoble's economy was built on electricity. From 1892, industrialists obtained a first course in industrial electricity, the Institut d'électrotechnique was born in 1898 and in 1925 the city hosted the International Exhibition of Hydropower (houille blanche). Then came the Centre d'études nucléaires in 1956, which became CEA Grenoble, the Institut Laue-Langevin in 1967, the European synchrotron ESRF created in 1985, then the Minalogic competitiveness cluster, accredited in 2005, and Minatec, opened in 2006. This network of laboratories, deeptech start-ups and electronics manufacturers is looking for highly specialised profiles, and employer brand video does part of the work: an engineer explaining their job to camera in their lab, a short format for LinkedIn and Instagram, a product demo filmed at workbench height for a start-up launching its solution to industrial buyers.
Halle Sainte-Claire, gratin dauphinois and bubble-seeking tourists
Grenoble's retail trade plays out in a tight, pedestrianised hyper-centre, between place Grenette, place Saint-André and the Halle Sainte-Claire, a 19th-century covered market where cheesemongers and greengrocers lend themselves well to product Reels. On the restaurant side, Dauphiné cuisine provides shots that work on TikTok: the gratin coming out of the oven, the ravioles, the Grenoble walnut tart, a PDO that bears the city's name. The Bastille cable car, France's first urban cable car, opened in 1934, attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year according to the Grenoble Alpes tourist office. These visitors look for where to eat and sleep before going up: that is the moment to show them a UGC video shot by a creator who pushes open the door of your establishment, filmed like a genuine customer review.
From the Bastille bubbles to the Street Art Fest murals
The transparent bubbles of the cable car, designed in 1976 by Denis Creissels with the Isère company Pomagalski (now Poma), are the shot every Grenoblois recognises. At the top, the fort offers a 360° view of the city and the mountain ranges: that is our aerial view, without a drone. At the bottom, the Isère quays and the Saint-Laurent district provide colourful backdrops for to-camera formats. From late May to late June (23 May to 28 June in 2026), the Street Art Fest Grenoble-Alpes, run by the Spacejunk association, adds new murals that become free backdrops for fashion or beauty. In early June, the Fête des Tuiles takes over the cours Jean-Jaurès and de la Libération (6 June in 2026). In autumn, the Rencontres Ciné Montagne bring the outdoor audience together at the Palais des Sports (13 to 17 October in 2026). In summer, the basin heats up fast: we shoot early in the morning.
A day's shoot in Grenoble, from Gare de Lyon
The team arrives from Paris on the direct TGV from Gare de Lyon, then reaches most shooting locations by tram. Preparation is done beforehand, remotely: script, choice of hooks, casting of creators who know the city (a UGC agency in Grenoble is judged on this: a creator who says "les bulles" like a local sounds right), and above all permissions. On the Presqu'île, access to the laboratories goes through badges and sometimes a security or confidentiality check, to be planned several weeks ahead. A typical day strings together employer brand interviews in the morning at the company's site, kitchen and service shots before noon in a restaurant in the centre, then outdoor sequences in the afternoon, on the quays or at the Bastille as the light drops. In the evening, we leave with the rushes for several ads and hook variants, edited afterwards in Paris.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
