Since 15 December 2019, a regional express line has linked Annemasse to central Geneva along 16 kilometres of new track, and the town lives to the rhythm of those comings and goings. Insee counted 37,628 residents there in 2023; around it, an urban area of 12 municipalities looks towards Switzerland. For its shops, restaurants and employers, Esekai travels up from Paris with cameras and creators to shoot Meta and TikTok ads, UGC testimonials and short-form formats for an audience that crosses the border every day.
See our workAn audience that works in Geneva and spends in Annemasse
The figure that sums up the area comes from the urban area rather than the town itself. According to the 2025 profile of Annemasse Agglo published by the Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français, drawing on the Observatoire statistique transfrontalier, the 12 municipalities had 22,009 cross-border workers in 2021, or 46% of their employed working population, and 46% of commutes in 2022 were towards Switzerland. The urban area had 95,155 residents in 2022, of whom 37,628 lived in the town of Annemasse alone in 2023, according to Insee. This audience keeps staggered hours, has a purchasing power often tied to Swiss salaries, and its attention is won on the platform or on the tram. Our videos for it are short, easy to follow without sound thanks to subtitles, and filmed in places it passes through: the station, the town centre, the stops of tram line 17.
Business parks, from l'Étoile to Mont-Blanc
The same profile lists 13 business parks in the urban area, including the Mont-Blanc zone, presented as the benchmark metropolitan zone, and two consolidation zones, Étoile Annemasse Genève and Altéa. The urban area had 6,541 businesses in 2022, of which 2,646 were employers. For the town alone, Insee records 1,285 employer establishments at the end of 2024: 75.2% are in trade, transport and services, and 70.9% have 1 to 9 employees. For these businesses, the same difficulty keeps coming up: recruiting against the pull of jobs in Geneva. A recruitment film that shows the team, the commute and what the role actually brings speaks louder than a written job ad. A service SME will happily add short demos, which are useful for LinkedIn prospecting in France and Switzerland alike.
The place de la Libération market and the town-centre shops
On Tuesdays and Fridays, from 8am to 12.30pm, the town-centre market takes over place de la Libération, with food stalls, local produce and textiles, according to the Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc tourist office. A producer or delicatessen finds a setting here that speaks for itself: the customer tasting, the seller explaining, the change handed back, in three shots held on a phone. Annemasse town centre is one of the six major retail areas cited in that profile, alongside out-of-centre hubs such as Shopping Etrembières or Borly. Town-centre shopkeepers and restaurateurs therefore compete with shopping centres where you park at the door. The answer on video: a Reel showing the walk from the station, the welcome and the product, then an ad version served within a small radius around the shop.
The station, Château Rouge and Villa du Parc
To speak to cross-border workers, no setting beats Annemasse station. According to the Léman Express press release of June 2025, the network serves 45 stations, passed 80,000 passengers a day in autumn 2024, including SBB RegioExpress, and was planning a direct L7 line between Annemasse and Geneva Airport via the Châtelaine tunnel. Morning and evening platforms give shots of a hurrying crowd that every commuter recognises. On the cultural side, Château Rouge programmes concerts, theatre and dance, and the Villa du Parc, a contemporary art centre in the parc Montessuit, offers a calm setting for an interview. As for timing, we film the station off-peak when the shot calls for calm, and aim instead for 7.30am when we want the mood of heading off to work.
From the station to the market: a day of shooting
The train drops us at Annemasse station, and the town centre can be reached without a vehicle. Based on rue du Colisée, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, Esekai has worked for more than 350 brands, and leaving the capital is part of the job, not the exception. Beforehand, the script is locked, the locations are listed and, if the campaign targets cross-border workers, the chosen creators make the journey to Geneva themselves. For a shoot in a station or in public space, permits are requested in advance. On the day, we open at the market on a Friday morning, move on to the lunchtime rush at a town-centre restaurant, spend the afternoon at the premises of a company in l'Étoile and finish at the station at home-time. The rushes then go to editing, in Paris.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
