On Sunday mornings, just before noon, people take their aperitif standing in the aisles of Les Halles de Narbonne, voted the finest market in France in June 2022 in TF1's competition. The city has 57,587 residents in 2023 according to Insee, and it gains them mainly through newcomers. To film its shops, its wine estates and its seaside resort, Esekai comes down from Paris with a light crew and goes home with social ads, UGC videos and TikTok formats built on what is unique to Narbonne.
See our workA city that attracts people, and part-time residents
Between 2017 and 2023, the population grew by 0.9% a year according to Insee, entirely thanks to net arrivals, which offset a negative natural balance. Another striking feature: 17.6% of homes are second or occasional homes in 2023, a high level for a town of this size, given that the resort of Narbonne-Plage is part of the municipality. A local brand is therefore speaking to three distinct audiences: long-established Narbonnais, newcomers discovering the city, and owners who are only here for part of the year. An estate agency, a building tradesperson or a holiday-rental manager should not show them all the same video. For newcomers, a "first month in Narbonne" format played by a UGC creator works well; for absent owners, a Meta ad run before the summer keeps the link alive.
Les Halles, the figuette and the southern aperitif
The Côte du Midi tourist office describes Les Halles as the lungs of the city: a steel-and-glass building modelled on Baltard's, with themed events around cabbages, tripe or the figuette, a Narbonne delicacy, and a big late-night opening. It is a natural set for a Reel by a trader or restaurateur: the stall being set up in the morning, the butcher's gesture, the counter filling up around noon. A producer can film a UGC format there in which a customer tastes, comments and leaves with their bag. For a regional food brand, Les Halles also offer a well-known setting that locals recognise immediately in their TikTok feed. We shoot early, before the crowds, then come back at aperitif time for the atmosphere, always asking for the agreement of the traders who appear on screen.
Small businesses, vineyards and lagoons
Insee counts 2,743 employer establishments in the town at the end of 2024, 72.4% of them in trade, transport and services and 69.3% with 1 to 9 employees. Narbonne therefore lives off small businesses: shops, restaurants, building firms (9.4% of establishments) and tourism providers. Around the town, the road to the sea crosses the vineyards of the plain, then pine woods and garrigue, and the Robine canal runs alongside the lagoons with a view of the Clape and the Corbières. A wine estate or cooperative cellar tells the story of its plots, its cellar and its harvest in video; alcohol regulations, however, rule out any festive tasting scene. For a building or service company, a customer testimonial shot on a finished site and a portrait of an apprentice for recruitment are often more useful than a corporate film.
The Robine, Narbo Via and Féeries de Noël
At 32 kilometres long, the Robine canal links the Canal du Midi to the sea and runs through the centre, lined by the promenade des Barques and the cours Mirabeau, with the pont des Marchands as a viewpoint. A few minutes away, the Narbo Via museum, opened in 2021 and designed by Norman Foster, presents a wall of 760 stone fragments set in mechanical motion. These places provide strong backdrops for a hotel or restaurant in the centre. In summer, Narbonne-Plage stretches out a 5-kilometre sandy beach and a 2.5-kilometre seafront promenade, enough for leisure, bike-hire or beach-restaurant TikToks. In winter, the Féeries de Noël bring the town to life from 28 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, with light projections on the Aux Dames de France building in the 2025 edition.
From Les Halles in the morning to the sea in the evening
A successful Narbonne shoot follows the sun. The crew stays overnight so as to start when Les Halles open, as the stalls are being set up and the aisles are still passable. Before leaving Paris, we have agreed with you the lines, the products to show and the neighbouring traders to warn; the town hall has received the request for the Robine quays if the set-up goes beyond a simple phone. After the market comes your premises, cellar, workshop or shop, then a break during the hottest hours of summer. We set off again in late afternoon towards the promenade des Barques or Narbonne-Plage. The result is cut into six-, fifteen- and thirty-second formats, each with its own opening line, to compare which holds attention best in advertising.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
