Twice a year, the Féria sends Nîmes’s streets overflowing, and the rest of the time the city lives at the foot of a Roman temple on the Unesco World Heritage list since 18 September 2023. With 151,839 inhabitants in 2023 according to Insee, it is also a real consumer catchment between Montpellier and Avignon. We come from Paris to shoot UGC content, TikToks and social ads for Nîmes’s shops, restaurants and businesses, timing the date to the local calendar.
See our work151,839 Nîmois and a regional employment hub
Insee counted 151,839 inhabitants in Nîmes in 2023, a population almost stable since 2017, with a change of 0.1% a year. The municipality is sprawling, with a density of 938.1 inhabitants per km², far from tightly packed city centres: people live as much in the residential suburbs and the garrigue as in the Écusson. The municipality concentrated 84,337 jobs in 2023, making it the daily destination of a large part of the Gard. For a brand, the consequence is practical. A video that only shows the Maison Carrée speaks to tourists; a video that shows a car park, a neighbourhood shopping street or a car journey speaks to everyday customers. We often write two hooks for the same ad, one for the historic centre, the other for the outskirts.
6,470 establishments, mostly small teams
At the end of 2024, Insee counted 6,470 employer establishments in the municipality, 70% of them with 1 to 9 employees and 71.1% in trade, transport and services, against 5% in industry. The typical profile is therefore a small service business, a craftsperson or an independent shop, with no communications department. For them, a video doesn’t need to be spectacular: it needs to show who works there and what you will find. We shoot on-camera introductions by the manager, demonstrations of expertise and customer testimonials, easy to publish on Instagram, TikTok and the Google listing. For a larger company that is hiring, an employee portrait shot in the workshop or the office, with the Nîmes sun in the background, then goes out on LinkedIn and in job ads.
From Halles open on Sundays to neighbourhood markets
According to the city, the Halles de Nîmes are open every day, Sunday included, and the municipality has 9 markets held Monday to Saturday in different neighbourhoods, from the Jean-Jaurès market on Fridays to the Pissevin market on Wednesdays. For a caterer, cheesemonger or wine merchant at the Halles, the counter films very well in close-up, with a brandade, olives or a pélardon set in front of the customer. A UGC creator who does their shopping at the Jean-Jaurès market and tastes in front of the camera produces a video that is credible across the whole city. In summer, the Jeudis de Nîmes add a second stage: every Thursday evening in July and August, artisans, producers and antique dealers take over the squares of the historic centre, with wine tastings. A restaurant or shop that posts on those evenings reaches the public just as they are out strolling.
Arenas, Maison Carrée and the Férias calendar
The Maison Carrée, which its official site presents, along with the Pantheon in Rome, as the best-preserved temple of the Roman world, offers a façade everyone recognises. Each year the Arènes host concerts by international artists and, for a weekend, nearly 500 re-enactors for the Journées Romaines, according to the tourist office. The first Féria dates from 1952; it returns twice a year, with Camargue-style bullfights, concerts and bull runs through the streets, and hundreds of thousands of visitors. These dates suit a brand that wants crowds and atmosphere. For a clean shot in front of a monument, a weekday morning out of season is better. The Festival Flamenco, organised by the Théâtre de Nîmes, celebrates Andalusian song, guitar and dance.
From Nîmes station to your first shot
We travel to Nîmes by train from Paris, with light equipment suited to the pedestrian streets of the Écusson. The work begins before departure: script, hooks to test, choice of creators, remote scouting of locations and, if needed, a permit request to the city to film in public space. A typical day follows the heat, which is very present from June to September. The Halles and outdoor scenes are shot early in the morning, interiors and interviews in the middle of the day, terraces and façades in the late afternoon when the stone takes on a warm tint. We keep time for direct-to-camera sequences by a UGC creator, with several different openings intended for paid campaigns. Back in Paris, we assemble the sequences, with one version per platform, and you receive videos ready to publish.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
