Nine staircase locks, opened in 1681 on the canal of Pierre-Paul Riquet, a local lad: in Béziers, the most visited site in the Hérault is a feat of engineering. The city itself is growing. Insee counts 81,545 residents there in 2023, up from 72,970 in 2012, with families, retirees and shops opening. Esekai, a Paris video agency founded by Tony Lo, makes the trip to the Biterrois to produce creative ads, UGC videos and TikTok content.

The population has risen markedly: 72,970 in 2012, 77,177 in 2017, then 81,545 in 2023 according to the census. The age pyramid is well filled at both ends. Under-15s make up 18.0% of residents, and 65 to 79-year-olds 15.9%. A single shop is therefore talking to parents discovering the city and to retirees long settled there, two audiences who don't scroll in the same place. The former can be reached on Instagram with short subtitled Reels, the latter on Facebook with a calmer video in which the shopkeeper speaks to camera. The Ville de Béziers also puts its retail catchment area at 80,000 households, and the town concentrates 42,067 jobs for 24,462 employed residents in 2023: a well-calibrated ad should target the wider urban area, not just the intra-muros town.
Building tradespeople and 1,798 new businesses
The Béziers business fabric has a colour of its own: of 9,694 active establishments in 2024, Insee counts 1,264 in construction, or 13.0%, and 871 in industry. Start-ups remain strong, with 1,798 businesses created in the town in 2025, 201 of them in building. For a plasterer, a pool installer or a joiner, the video that works on TikTok is the before-and-after filmed on site, with the technical gesture in the middle. The same material is then used to recruit apprentices, letting a journeyman explain his trade in thirty seconds, and then to reassure a professional client on LinkedIn with a workshop tour. A business founder, for their part, often needs a first batch of three ads to test their offer before investing further. We write these scripts from what the company actually does, not from a template.
Allées Paul-Riquet, Les Halles and 600 shops in the centre
The town hall announces more than 600 shops in the town centre and more than 90 shop openings a year, according to its economy page updated in April 2026. In Insee's nomenclature, trade, accommodation-catering and transport total 2,496 establishments in 2024, with 628 created in 2025. Every opening is a story: a shop about to raise the shutter benefits from publishing, the week before, a Reel of the window being fitted out and the first customers. The allées Paul-Riquet, with their plane trees and terraces, serve as a natural backdrop for the UGC of a café or an ice-cream parlour. Les Halles lend themselves better to portraits of traders filmed at the counter. Hospitality remains compact, 15 hotels with 453 rooms on 1 January 2026 according to Insee: an establishment that stands out on video is quickly spotted.
Fonseranes, the 1897 arena and the August Féria
The Béziers Méditerranée tourist office ranks the 9 locks of Fonseranes first among the most visited sites in the Hérault, and third in Languedoc-Roussillon after Carcassonne and the Pont du Gard, with more than 450,000 visitors a year. Boats go up and down at fixed times: a barge hire company or a canal-side restaurant can time its shoot around these passages. The 1983 water slope, now out of use, is still visible and intrigues people on TikTok. In town, the arena inaugurated in July 1897 has more than 13,000 seats. Each August it hosts the Féria, where the crowd dressed in white and red fills bodegas and casitas until dawn. It is the week for atmosphere content for bars, wine shops and drinks brands. The rest of the year, the cathédrale Saint-Nazaire above the Orb offers a very recognisable opening shot.
From the plateau des Poètes to the banks of the Orb: our running order
The train drops the team at the foot of the plateau des Poètes, the big public garden facing the station, and the centre can be reached on foot. Before that day, we have approved the scripts remotely, obtained the venues' agreement and, for UGC, chosen creators who live in the Biterrois. The morning starts at Les Halles, as the stalls go up, then continues in a shop or restaurant on the allées Paul-Riquet. The afternoon goes to a building site or a workshop in a business park to film testimonials and know-how. At the end of the day, we head for Fonseranes or the Pont Vieux for the low light on the cathedral. The rushes come back to Paris for editing, and each video comes out with several hooks, ready to be tested on Meta and TikTok.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
