Gap has 41,293 residents in 2023 according to Insee: it is the most populous commune in the Hautes-Alpes, and a town where a brand is quickly recognised, at the market as much as on an Instagram feed. This closeness changes the way we film. A video shot on place Jean Marcellin or on the terraces of Charance speaks immediately to the people of Gap, whereas a neutral backdrop goes unnoticed. Gap's shops, employers and tourism players see us arrive from Paris with the equipment: we film their Meta and TikTok creative ads, their UGC and their Reels on location.
See our work41,293 people in Gap, an audience that keeps crossing paths
Insee's figures set the scene: 41,293 residents in Gap in 2023, 20,814 households the same year and a density of 373.9 inhabitants per km². The population changes little, with average annual growth of 0.2% between 2017 and 2023. In practice, a Meta campaign targeted at Gap soon reaches the same people several times. We draw two rules from this. First, plan several variations of the same creative (different hooks, faces and opening shots) so that repetition does not wear people out. Second, show landmarks that everyone identifies, place aux Herbes on a Wednesday morning, the façade of the château de Charance, rather than a white background. In a town this size, the audience spots at a glance content that could come from anywhere, and scrolls past it.
The hospital, the Département and the Tallard Aéropôle
The France Travail diagnosis published in 2024 (Insee REE-Sirene data at 31 December 2021) lists among the département's main employers the Centre hospitalier intercommunal des Alpes du Sud (1,000 to 3,000 FTEs), the Département des Hautes-Alpes (900 to 999 FTEs) and the commune of Gap (600 to 699 FTEs). Video is used first of all for recruitment: a nurse who talks about her shift and then her Sunday hike convinces better than a job description. In Tallard, the Aéropôle brings together about thirty aeronautics companies and associations, including Hélicoptères de France, Icarius and Béringer, as well as the PolyAéro school. You can film maintenance workshops, hands on a part, an apprentice on the tarmac: enough to feed an employer brand film, a B2B presentation or a launch announcement on LinkedIn. The rest of the fabric is made up of small organisations: according to the same diagnosis, 90% of employer establishments in the Hautes-Alpes have fewer than 10 employees.
From rue Carnot to the oreilles d'âne
On Saturday mornings, the traditional market occupies rue Carnot, rue Elisée, rue de France, place Alsace-Lorraine and place aux Herbes; on Wednesdays, it is held on place de la République and place aux Herbes. These stalls provide a ready-made setting for a UGC video from a producer or a delicatessen: a voice, a gesture, a product held out to the camera. On the food side, Hautes-Alpes specialities lend themselves to Reels because they film well in close-up: oreilles d'âne, a gratin of pasta and spinach in béchamel that comes bubbling out of the oven, tourtons fried golden, the tarte des Alpes with its lattice of pastry. In December, place aux Herbes is reserved for the food chalets of the Christmas market, then for the Village gourmand from 26 to 30 December 2026: twelve chalets, as many counters to film for a caterer or a cheesemonger.
From the Monte-Carlo Rally in January to Gapen'Cimes in October
The City of Gap's sporting calendar sets the rhythm of the year. The Monte-Carlo Rally (WRC) passed through from 20 to 24 January 2026, followed by the Monte-Carlo Historique on 1 February. Then come the international Trial indoor in May, the Échappée gapençaise cycling event in June, the Festival arts et sports urbains from 11 to 14 July, Festi'Pump in September and the Gapen'Cimes trail in early October. On the commercial side, the Gap Foire Expo brings together more than 200 exhibitors every spring at the Pépinière site, with concerts in the evening, and the summer fair occupies boulevard de la Libération and place du Révelly from 3 pm to 10 pm in early August. Outside events, the Charance estate rises from 1,000 to 1,852 m in altitude over 220 hectares: terraces at the foot of the former residence of the bishops, old roses, an orchard, a lake. June, rose season, gives the most beautiful images.
A day's shoot in Gap, coming from Paris
The team arrives from Paris the day before, by the night train to Briançon that stops at Gap, or by road via the A51, which ends south of the town, near Tallard. Before leaving, we settle the shot list, the people filmed and the permissions with you over video call, because a municipal estate like Charance or an airfield hangar cannot be improvised. If your product is sold at the market, we set the date on a Wednesday or Saturday morning. A typical day for a restaurant in the centre: market and prep in the morning, lunch service filmed in the kitchen and dining room, short customer testimonials in the afternoon, then exterior shots as the light drops over the Gap basin. Esekai does not use drones: everything is shot on the ground, handheld or on a stabiliser. We leave with the material for several creative ads and a series of organic content.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
