Every summer, Avignon becomes a giant stage: the Festival Off lined up 1,731 shows in 139 theatres in 2025, and actors hand out flyers right up to place de l'Horloge. Out of season, the commune has 92,188 inhabitants and 61,325 jobs (Insee, 2023 census), far more positions than working residents. Esekai, a Paris production house launched by Tony Lo, heads down to the Vaucluse to film Meta ads, UGC and TikTok formats as close as possible to these audiences.
See our work61,325 jobs for 92,188 inhabitants
The 2023 census paints the picture of an employer town: 61,325 jobs in the commune against 31,885 residents who work, and a jobs-to-workers ratio that Insee puts at 192.3. At least 29,440 of these jobs are therefore held by people who come from elsewhere. On the marketing side, the effect is immediate: a Meta ad limited to postcode 84000 misses a large share of the people who have lunch, shop and go out in town. We prefer a wider radius and videos that show landmarks familiar to all these commuters: the ramparts, the ring road, the Centre station. The city also keeps a young audience: 12,988 Avignon residents aged 15 to 24 were counted in 2023, 14.1% of the population. They mostly watch TikTok formats carried by creators of their own generation, with a real Avignon backdrop behind them.
Agroparc, Créativa and the natural-ingredients sector
The Grand Avignon has its headquarters at Agroparc and manages 23 economic activity zones across the conurbation. The intercommunal body highlights a competitiveness cluster focused on food, wellbeing and naturalness, the Créativa business incubator and Grand Avignon animation, a business centre reserved for creative and cultural industries. At commune level, 11,921 establishments were active in 2024, and 2,369 of them are in specialised, scientific and technical services or administrative support (Insee). Each expects something different from a camera. A natural ingredients manufacturer does well to show its laboratory or production line in forty-five seconds for LinkedIn. A start-up housed in the incubator needs a pitch to camera and a trio of ads to launch its product. An SME recruiting technicians can have its teams speak in front of the machine they run every day.
From the Halles on place Pie to 2,348 hotel rooms
Shops, hotels, restaurants and carriers form the biggest block of the local economy: 3,439 establishments in 2024, 28.8% of the total counted by Insee. It moves fast: in 2025, 824 of the 2,090 businesses created in Avignon came from these trades. Beneath the green wall of place Pie, Les Halles provide a ready-made set for the Reel of a greengrocer or caterer, filmed as the stalls open. Hotels weigh heavily too: 43 hotels totalling 2,348 rooms, including two five-star ones, appeared in Insee's count on 1 January 2026. For them, the most effective UGC follows a guest from the station to the terrace with a view of the Palais des Papes. A table on rue des Teinturiers will get more from a TikTok shot in the kitchen in the middle of service than from a photo of a dish.
Cour d'honneur, cloisters and the Boulbon quarry
In July, the Festival d'Avignon takes over the Cour d'honneur of the Palais des Papes, the Carmes cloister, the Célestins cloister, the FabricA or the Boulbon quarry, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. The Off adds its own geography: in 2025, 1,405 companies and 1.6 million admissions according to its organisers, for 300,000 festival-goers. That month, companies and theatres commission thirty-second teasers to publish before opening night, and shopkeepers want to capture the influx. The shoot is then set very early in the morning, before the flyering starts. From October to May, the city empties of its visitors and the settings become available again: the Pont Saint-Bénezet seen from the île de la Barthelasse, the gardens of the rocher des Doms, the alleys around place des Corps-Saints. A Provençal cosmetics brand or a wine estate finds bright shots without crowds there.
From the TGV platform to the ramparts
We leave from 40 rue du Colisée, in Paris, early in the morning, get off at Avignon TGV station, then change for the Centre station, set opposite the ramparts. Most of the work is done beforehand: script approved, location scouting from photos sent by the client, permit requests to the town hall and, if the brief includes UGC, selection of creators from the Vaucluse. On site, the schedule runs from the stalls of Les Halles at opening, to an address within the walls before noon, then a site at Agroparc where we record testimonials and manufacturing gestures. The low evening light is saved for the Barthelasse, with the bridge and the palace in the background. Back in Paris, we edit each sequence with several different openings, pitted against each other in advertising so that only the most profitable one is kept.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
