Johnny Hallyday, Tina Turner and David Bowie all played in a Roman amphitheatre built in the early 2nd century: in Fréjus, the Arènes have long served as a stage. Insee records 59,719 inhabitants there in 2023, and more than one home in three is a second home or occasional residence. From Paris, Esekai comes to film Meta and TikTok ads, UGC creator videos and Reels, playing with what makes the town: ancient stone, the sea and the seasons.
See our workA town that changes face between July and November
Insee counts 46,677 homes in Fréjus in 2023, 34.7% of them second homes and occasional residences. That proportion says it all: part of the audience of a Fréjus brand lives there only a few weeks a year. The permanent population is growing too: 2.1% more each year on average from 2017 to 2023, and it is newcomers, not births, that make the difference. For a video agency, this means two campaigns instead of one. Before the summer, videos that speak to second-home owners and holidaymakers, to be run on Meta in their home region. The rest of the year, content for year-round residents, retirees and recently settled young households alike, with everyday places rather than postcards.
Building tradespeople, shops and services
Insee records 2,544 employer establishments in Fréjus at the end of 2024, 70.7% of which have 1 to 9 employees. Construction accounts for 15.3% of these establishments, trade, transport and services for 70.4%. The commune recorded 23,184 jobs in 2023. For a craftsman, a joiner or a renovation company, nothing beats a before-and-after filmed on site, with the owner explaining a technical choice in thirty seconds. These videos also serve to recruit in trades where candidates are scarce: a journeyman telling the story of his day carries more weight than a job ad. For services, we shoot customer testimonials in their real setting, a terrace, a redone kitchen, a boat.
Roc d'Azur: five days in October at the Base Nature
The Roc d'Azur began in 1984 with 7 competitors. According to the town, it now brings together more than 20,000 participants, 300 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors over five days, and has been based since 1997 at the Base Nature François Léotard; the 41st edition took place from 8 to 12 October 2025. Manufacturers of bikes, equipment or sports nutrition find their audience gathered in one place: UGC shot by riders at the show, exhibitor interviews, start-line shots in the dust. The Base Nature itself, 135 hectares by the sea, 85 of them protected natural areas, with a 1.5 km beach, lends itself the rest of the year to sports, wellness or outdoor fashion videos. Its 6,000 m² Espace Caquot hosts shows and fairs.
Arènes, episcopal group and Bravade
Awarded the Ville d'art et d'histoire label in 1987, Fréjus has kept much more of Forum Iulii than street names. The Arènes, restored between 2008 and 2012 as part of the Plan Patrimoine Antique, host until 2026 an exhibition on forty years of concerts, from the 1960s to the 2000s, from Téléphone to The Cure. Jewellery designers, fashion labels and event organisers find a warm backdrop in these stone tiers around 6 p.m. The historic centre, with the cathédrale Saint-Léonce and its cloister, suits calmer videos, crafts or gastronomy. The calendar is planned around the highlights listed by the town: the Bravade in honour of saint François de Paule, four days of parades and processions around the third Sunday after Easter; the Nuits Auréliennes; the Nuits de Port-Fréjus; the Saint-Aygulf festivities. We avoid the height of August for filming in the streets, unless the crowd is part of the message.
From Saint-Raphaël to Port-Fréjus: how a shoot unfolds
The TGV stops at Saint-Raphaël, the neighbouring commune, and the crew reaches Fréjus within minutes with its kit in cases. Preparation is done from the rue du Colisée in Paris: script locked, locations booked, Var creators selected when the campaign relies on UGC. To film in a monument like the Arènes, the request goes to the site managers several weeks earlier. The shoot starts at dawn on the Base Nature beach, when the light is soft and the sand empty, continues in the lanes of the historic centre, at a shopkeeper's or at a table, spends the afternoon at Port-Fréjus for terrace and boat shots, then ends at the Arènes at sunset. Back to Paris for the edit, where each video gets three or four different openings, pitted against each other in distribution.
Why creative ads deliver better results
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped in a second. A creative ad works on the hook, the message and the format so it is watched to the end, then tested and adapted for as long as it converts.
