Cost of TikTok Content Creation for a Brand: 4 Invoices

Production, usage rights, media, management: the real budget of a TikTok programme in 2026, line by line, with sourced prices and quote traps.

Tony Lo, founder of Esekai
By Founder and CEO of Esekai, Paris

In 2026, TikTok content creation costs a brand between €1,500 and €6,000 a month for a complete programme, excluding ad spend. That amount breaks down into four distinct lines: video production (€80 to €600 each), advertising usage rights (+30 to 60% of the video price), editorial management and media delivery. The unit price alone has no value: it is the monthly cadence that determines the real cost. A quote at €800 and a quote at €4,500 almost never measure the same thing. According to the 35th Observatoire de l'e-pub from the SRI and UDECAM (February 2026), the French digital advertising market reached €12.4 billion in 2025, up 11%, driven in particular by Social and Video.

How much does TikTok content creation really cost a brand in 2026?

Between €1,500 and €6,000 a month excluding media, depending on cadence and the level of usage rights. This figure only makes sense when tied to a volume: four videos a month to test a territory, ten to feed an account and an ad account, twenty and more to scale on TikTok Ads. The cost per video falls as volume rises; the total cost does not.

Most of the quotes we are asked to review mix at least two of the four lines below. It is mechanical: a UGC creator bills a video, a media agency bills a flat fee, a platform bills a file. Nobody lays out the full grid. Here is ours, the one we use in budget meetings with our e-commerce clients.

4. TikTok Ads media budget (separate invoice)€1,500 min.3 000 – 6 000 €€10,000 and over

The production amounts are based on market prices recorded in France: €80 to €600 per UGC video, with a median of €150 to €350 for an experienced creator (cindysteenkeste.com, March 2026). The management ranges come from our own packages and from published agency rate cards (€500 to €3,000 a month according to ckc-net.com, June 2026).

The line everyone forgets: usage rights

The same 45-second video goes from €150 to €450 depending on whether it stays on your organic account or goes out as TikTok Ads for six months. The “30-60 s creative ad with 6-month advertising rights” format is negotiated between €200 and €450 (cindysteenkeste.com, March 2026), whereas the same video for organic use only drops to €120-280. If you want the detail of usage rights and the real prices of a UGC video in France, we have documented it elsewhere. Just remember this: a quote with no mention of term, territory and platforms of use is not a quote, it is a promise.

Three scenarios, three logics

At €1,500 a month, you test. Four videos, two angles, no long usage rights, all organic. The goal is not performance, it is to find out which angle produces watch time for you. At €3,500, you are in steady state: ten assets a month, three to five of which go into paid with six-month rights, and you start to have a usable creative history. Beyond €6,000, you are feeding a machine, and there the constraint is no longer the budget, it is the capacity to renew before wear-out.

Why do prices displayed online vary from €99 to €4,500 for the same service?

Because these prices do not measure the same unit: a file, a video, a delivery, a day's work, a number of posts or a batch of testable assets. Comparing €99 and €4,500 is comparing a price per kilo with a monthly subscription. Both are right, neither is comparable.

The table below is the only one that matters when you are weighing options. The signature column is the fourth: the real cost per video that can actually run, that is, delivered, in the right formats, with the rights that allow it to be pushed in Ads. These recalculated costs are our estimates, drawn from the quotes we see circulating and from our own cost prices, not published data.

The influencer line is deliberately empty in the cost per video column. This is not an oversight. You cannot amortise an asset you have no right to re-run. This is the blind spot of half the pages answering this query: they put a figure on renting an audience and call it “content creation cost”.

When two proposals land on your desk, the only thing to do is to bring them to the same unit before looking at the total. We have detailed the method for comparing two incomparable video quotes: number of final deliverables, number of variants per deliverable, length of rights, delivery time, and who pays for re-recordings.

A batch of ten vertical videos is rarely shot in ten sessions: pooling set-ups is the first lever for volume discounts.

What are TikTok's rates for a brand: account, tools, advertising?

The TikTok platform itself is free for a brand: TikTok Business account, TikTok Studio, commercial sound library, native analytics, access to TikTok Ads Manager. The cost starts with paid delivery, with a floor of $50 a day at campaign level (influee.co, July 2026), and with selling through TikTok Shop, which takes a commission on every transaction.

The idea that “TikTok is free” still circulates in management committees. It is true for the tool, false for the resource. What the platform does not bill for is time: someone has to write, shoot, edit, publish, reply to comments and read the retention curves. An in-house community manager for a very small business or SME costs €2,500-4,000 a month fully loaded (sieweb-grandest.com, June 2026). That is the real price of “free”.

On the paid side, three items exist on the platform's side:

  • TikTok Ads Manager: free access, minimum budget of $50/day at campaign level (influee.co, 2026). Below that, you learn nothing; the algorithm does not have enough events to exit the learning phase. The TikTok for Business help centre confirms it: at campaign level, both daily and total budgets must exceed 50 USD.
  • TikTok Shop: commission taken on sales, varying by promotional periods and categories. It is budgeted as a distribution cost, not a content cost.
  • Sounds and effects under commercial licence: Business accounts are restricted to the Commercial Music Library; a track from the consumer catalogue is not “paid” on TikTok, it takes a licence negotiated outside the platform with the rights holders. A popular track used without rights on a Business account means a video takedown; we saw it twice in 2025 with clients who thought the library was the same as on a personal account. TikTok's page on the Commercial Music Library is clear: businesses cannot use the general music library for commercial purposes and must go through the Commercial Music Library for all their commercial activity on TikTok.

A specialist agency bills on top of that: €300 to €1,500 for an ad account audit, around €3,000 a month for flat-fee management according to the cases analysed by lafabriquedunet.fr in 2026. That amount pays for media management, never for production.

What is the price of 1,000 views on TikTok, and why is it not a content cost?

In France, 1,000 paid impressions on TikTok cost roughly €3 to €8, against €5 to €15 on Meta according to agency benchmarks, estimates, not official rates. CPC is between €0.20 and €0.80, against €0.50 to €2 on Meta. Globally, the range recorded is $4.20 to $9.00, with $2.87 to $6.21 on broad reach campaigns and up to $9.16 on conversion-optimised in-feed (influee.co, July-August 2026).

These figures answer the question asked. They do not answer the right question.

A CPM is a price for buying space. It says nothing about what the video occupying that space costs. Two brands can have the same CPM and a 1-to-4 gap in their acquisition cost, because one runs a creative that holds 40% of the audience at 3 seconds and the other 12%. We have compiled the French sector benchmarks in TikTok CPM, CPC and ROAS benchmarks by sector in France, useful for knowing whether your CPM is abnormal, useless for weighing a production budget.

The metric we use instead: cost per 1,000 useful views

You add up the production cost of the creative and the media spent on it, then divide by the 3-second views (or by the views at 50% of the duration, depending on the objective). On a batch of ten videos at €250 each pushed with €4,000 of media, production accounts for 38% of the total cost. When one creative stands out from the batch and absorbs 60% of the media budget, its share of production falls below 8%. That is where the trade-off becomes obvious: beyond a certain media volume, saving €100 on a video is a management failure.

Another piece of data that weighs in the calculation: UGC formats are generally presented as performing better than institutional creatives on TikTok, with no reliable multiplier: the published gaps vary by metric and by source. The profitable ROAS threshold depends on your gross margin and your average basket: calculate it, no universal figure applies. A low CPM on a weak creative produces nothing but a clean invoice.

What does an influencer partnership on TikTok cost, and when is it better to produce in-house?

A TikTok partnership is negotiated at around €25 to €200 with a nano creator and €200 to €1,500 with a micro creator (ranges recorded at influee.co in 2026, to be treated as negotiable orders of magnitude). Above that, French macro profiles regularly exceed €1,750 per post, with huge gaps depending on the niche and the exclusivity requested.

The point nobody raises frankly: what you buy with an influencer is a delivery. Once. To their audience. The video stays on their account, their licence expires, and you have, barring a specific paid agreement, no right to re-run it as Spark Ads six months later. The TikTok Ads Manager help centre specifies that it is the creator who chooses the authorisation period of their video's code for Spark Ads: 7, 30, 60 or 365 days.

A video produced for your brand, with the rights, works differently. You push it in TikTok Ads, recycle it in Reels, put it on a product page, bring it back out for retargeting at Black Friday. On our client accounts, the best creatives are reactivated three to five times over twelve months, often with a simple change of hook. A €300 video reused four times costs €75 per run. An influencer post at €300 costs €300.

An influencer post, you rent. A produced video, you own. As long as you compare the two at the displayed price, you are comparing a rent with a purchase.

This reasoning has a limit, and we say so: when the goal is social proof within a specific community, a fitness niche, a clean beauty community, a gaming audience, a creator with 12,000 engaged followers brings something no production can buy. We do not know how to produce community credibility. We know how to produce assets. The two complement each other, and we detailed the budget trade-off between the two logics in our analysis on choosing between advertising UGC and organic content.

Video editing station with several vertical versions of the same ad on the timeline
Three alternative hooks per video: the least visible cost item on a quote, and one of the most decisive in paid.

What is the price of video editing for TikTok?

A freelance editor bills between €50 and €90 an hour depending on experience (raccordfilm.fr, 2026), which is €150 to €350 for a polished 30-to-60-second TikTok edit. As day rates, the recorded rates range from €284 for a profile with 0 to 2 years to €541 beyond 15 years of experience (lefreelance.fr, June 2026).

What a vertical edit covers in 2026: rush review, take selection, pacing, animated subtitles timed to the syllable, light graphic treatment, sound mixing, export to the requested ratios. A “simple” 30-second video rarely takes someone good less than two hours. The €40 edits you will come across are assemblies of rushes with unchecked automatic subtitling.

Why hourly billing works against you

Paying for time spent aligns interests in the wrong direction. The supplier is paid for time, you want variants. The classic result: every extra version becomes a negotiation, and you end up running a single version of a creative instead of three. On TikTok Ads, it is the best way never to know whether it is the hook or the offer that is dragging the campaign down.

We bill by the batch for this reason. A batch of ten videos includes, with us, ten master edits, three alternative hooks per master, that is thirty testable openings, 9:16 and 1:1 versions, and two subtitled versions (with and without burn-in). Iterations account for 20 to 40% of the real time spent on a batch. No grid on the first page of Google displays them, which explains part of the price gaps. On the exact role of the hook and how to measure it, we have written what you need in the cost and measurement of an advertising video hook.

What we cannot predict: the number of validation rounds on the client side. It is the variable that blows up deadlines and margins, with us as with everyone else. A one-person validation loop takes 48 hours. With four people including legal, it is three weeks and an edit that has lost its edge.

How do you build a TikTok content budget that holds for six months?

Set the cadence first, then the budget. A TikTok programme that is sustainable over six months rests on a production/media ratio between 25/75 and 40/60, a minimum cadence of eight to ten videos a month, and creative renewal triggered by a performance threshold, not by the calendar. The rest is adjustment.

1. The production / media ratio

With less than 20% of the total budget going to production, you are buying space for creatives you cannot afford to renew. Above 45%, you are producing more than your media can properly test. In between, it works. A brand spending €5,000 of monthly media should devote €1,700 to €2,500 to production. The €800 creative / €1,200 media split you see circulating for a small budget is consistent at the start, but it no longer holds beyond €3,000 of media.

2. Cadence by objective

  • Organic awareness: 12 to 20 posts a month. The algorithm rewards regularity more than polish. One batched monthly shoot is enough to feed the cadence.
  • Paid acquisition: a minimum of 8 to 12 new creatives a month, at least half of them testing a different angle, not just a different hook.
  • TikTok Shop / direct sales: high cadence, 20+ a month, with short demo formats and a renewal rhythm of almost weekly.

3. The renewal threshold

You do not replace a creative because it is a month old. You replace it when its frequency exceeds 2.5 or its CPA climbs 30% over a rolling seven days. On the accounts we manage, the useful lifespan of a TikTok creative in paid is most often between two and five weeks at constant budget, with exceptions that last three months and that you must on no account cut. The “a creative dies in 14 days” rule you read everywhere is a meaningless average: it depends on your daily budget and the size of your audience.

4. What you keep in-house, what you delegate

Keep in-house what depends on your product knowledge: angles, customer objections, the commercial calendar, comment moderation. Delegate what requires equipment and cadence: shooting, editing, variations. The sum is easy to do: €2,500 to €4,000 a month for an in-house community manager (sieweb-grandest.com, June 2026) rarely funds more than six to eight properly edited videos a month, training and equipment included.

To project all this over twelve months rather than six, our article on building your monthly video content creation budget sets out the exercise on an annual scale, with seasonality.

One last point, which goes against our immediate commercial interest: if your total content + media budget is under €2,000 a month, do not run TikTok Ads. Put everything into organic production, post twelve times a month, and watch what catches on before paying for distribution. Brands that start by buying space with three average creatives burn their budget on algorithmic learning. Those that start by producing arrive at paid with a catalogue of angles already validated by free views. It is six weeks slower. It is markedly cheaper.

Frequently asked questions

How much does TikTok content creation cost a brand in 2026?
Between €1,500 and €6,000 a month for a complete programme, excluding ad spend. That amount is spread over four lines: video production (€80 to €600 each), advertising usage rights (+30 to 60% of the video price), editorial management and iterations. The unit price alone means nothing: the monthly cadence determines the real cost.
How many TikTok videos should a brand produce a month?
Eight to twelve new creatives a month for paid acquisition, twelve to twenty posts for an organic awareness strategy, more than twenty for a TikTok Shop approach. Below six videos a month, you do not have enough variants to identify what works, and your campaigns wear out before producing usable learning.
Can you create TikTok content for a brand with €500 a month?
Yes, provided you stay organic and accept a cadence of two to three videos a month produced by an entry-level freelance creator (€80 to €180 per short video, according to cindysteenkeste.com in 2026). This budget funds neither advertising rights, nor variations, nor management. It is a test budget, not a programme.
Do you have to pay usage rights to run a UGC video in TikTok Ads?
Yes. A video delivered for organic use cannot be pushed as advertising without explicit agreement. The 30-to-60-second creative ad format with six-month advertising rights is between €200 and €450 (cindysteenkeste.com, March 2026), against €120 to €280 for the same video for organic use only. Check term, territory and platforms.
Can TikTok content be reused on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts?
Technically yes, 9:16 is common to all three platforms. Two reservations: the TikTok watermark penalises delivery on Reels, and the pacing codes differ. We systematically export masters without platform branding, which allows clean reuse. Still allow for a hook re-edit per platform, around 20 to 30 minutes per video.
What is the lead time between the brief and the first published video?
Allow ten to fifteen working days for a first batch: three to five days of scoping and writing the angles, one shoot day, five to seven days of editing and variations. The factor that lengthens this lead time most is not production but the internal validation loop on the brand side.
